I watching this in germany, no more than 30km from Aachen and it is absolutely amazing to see the sights of the old city and its cathedral, the old imperial city...

Now that history's kinda my jam, this video's a perfect fit! I look forward to hearing more of Charlemagne as I continue my studies. I look at these maps and almost take for granted how... ??? it must be to rule over others - nevermind such a vast territory. It really gives me a different perspective of what humanity is capable of (and what I'm capable of by extension). Poor Pope Leo III... I'm glad that everyone got what they needed and started this lovely, symbiotic relationship that was, apparently, just what Europe needed. One thing that gets to me about my history studies is the logical progression of events. It seems to be an ongoing series of "this person / group was located here and needed this, so this thing happened. But then this obstacle got in the way, so they pivoted to do this and it failed / succeeded for a while." It's a lot like life, but on a grand scale. None of us are immune to it!

Would be interesting to see this all come together in a little piece on the central palace chapel in Aachen, because this one took immense inspiration from San Vitale, which fused Western and Eastern roman elements, and additionally was made in the Carolingian Romanesque style.

Thank you so much this is great. The way you explain everything in a discussion form switching the voices helps me stay focused and I don't zone out easily because the speech is not monotone in fact its a conversation. very helpful thanks again.

This was such a great help! One suggestion though, the narrators sound like they are cutting each other off. Is it possible that there could be only one narrator? This is just my opinion. 970+1=971 likes= great work!
