In this video, we test out this 2-in-1 USB Type C/Micro USB to HDMI Cable adapter that actually works with any android phone or tablet!
I was very skeptical about this device but after a lot of testing, I can say that this works very well and it even supports Audio. So if you’ve been looking to add HDMI to your Android device to play Games, Emulators and Movies on a big screen TV this might be for you.
I test out the Moto G Fast, Samsung A01, and the Alldocube iplay40 in this video.

Wow! That is bloody impressive! There hasn't been a lower end phone or tablet with hdmi support for ages, in fact, I've had issues even with older devices with mhl supported. This probably isn't a game changer, but for the power users from poorer countries who wanted this for years, you've hit the nail on the head with this video!

I kind of makes sense when you think about the BOM for these inexpensive handsets - USB-C 2.0 can support data transfer and decent charging rates while being priced cheaper than a full USB-C implementation. It's not just about the physical port, either - the USB controller circuitry is also more expensive for true USB-C.

The whole "USB-C 2.0 can't support video out is because it's not 3" is BS. I remember a time when many micro USB 2. phones supported video out through MHL. And MHL Alt Mode for USB Type-C does supoort USB2.0. Companies just refuse to put it so if you want that feature you have to buy their flagships. Kinda like how Samsung won't put DeX mode on their lower end Galaxy S Tabs like the 6 Lite or 5e. Even though we know they do have the power to run on DeX. Might not be able to multi task as well as the high end. But the layout change alone would help. Many Android apps aren't really good for tablets, so running it on a window inside might be better. Even if they limit the number of apps running simultaneously. Like only 2, like pretty much any phone on split screen mode.

A trick I use to add power is connecting an unpowered USB C hub then plugging a charger into one one of the USB ports. While I use a hub designed for MHL phones it works without its own HDMI out on non-MHL phones (my backup phone is non-MHL). That give USB storage and a place to connect wireless keyboard and mouse adapters like Logitech while leaving Bluetooth connections free. With a bit of thought you can make a surprisingly useful mobile desktop from a phone.

now _this_ is useful ! I was so disappointed when I found out that my last phone wouldn't connect to a PC screen for lack of HDMI over USB-C (my bad, I should have checked rather than assume it did so). for me, a connector like this enables me to use my phone as a fully portable computer to write down articles with a bluetooth keyboard wherever I am and then, rather than transfering the file to my PC back at home, still use the phone to finish my work. Brilliant ! many thanks for the review !

I'm actually getting quite awesome performance while casting from my PC to a TV screen. The lag being within 10-20 ms or less judging by my gaming feel - which is barely noticeable. It is important that one of the devices is connected via cable. Then depending on the distance to the router your minimal one way lag is 2-4ms and two way will be double that. Cable is pretty fast so you will also get the awesome experience. Also the TV monitor hardware is important. If you are pushing higher resolution the CPU needs to be stronger.

These were around for micro SD years ago. I have one that I used with my Galaxy Note. II. It is much less complicated. It is basically a multi-function hub with HDMI, micro SD & full SD card slots, a full size USB port and a micro USB port for charging. It didn't need any apps. You just attached it to an HDMI port but I don't think that it worked with all Android phones. It needed a protocol that only the higher end phones like Samsung had. I used it at home and took it to friend's houses to watch movies. That was long before smart TVs, Chromecast and before Android boxes were cheap and easy to get. I didn't play games with it but it worked very well for movies. I just pulled it out. Now I have to see what I can still use it for, maybe with a USB C converter.

I like this one. I appreciate you filmed this!! I just have a question, does this AOC Monitor the only Monitor can connect to any phones or tablets? Or can I try to use other Monitors? For example some affordable or cheap ones? Do I need to be sure that they have HDMI port so I can do that? I'm thinking to have and try Monitor lately... Just for my gaming experience as well as to share more contents here in my YT Channel with that Monitor connected with my Phone or Tablet.... I hope you'll respond. Thanks in advance. 😊

I might need this. I used an S5 which supports MHL for retro gaming but it barely supports N64 and PSP. DS, PS1 and GBA is fine but sucks that the MHL cable took the power from the phone significantly. The fact that this converter has a built in CPU and RAM seem promising, i would assume the converting work is all handled in the built in cpu without using any of my phone juices.

What kills me, is a phone company not putting usb c to hdmi in a lower end phone, just because it is a selling point of a higher end phone. Really goes to show that there isn't much changing , just different configurations for different applications

@dknc7393
@dknc7393 3 жыл бұрын
I was researching that before looking to get a S6 lite, but it seems like Samsung dropped the DEX except S6 and above, or if you can find S5e, that would work but S5e is priced between S6 and S6 Lite and its benchmark just barely above S6 Lite. I checked iPlay 40 and it supports MHL. So anything that says it support MHL will work, but not S6 lite.

The company behind this tech are EzCast. They have a channel here with a number of related products. They seem to have started doing dongles which stream over WiFi to hdmi so I guess they took all that software r&d and bundle it up in a form factor that pushes data over usb instead of WiFi.
