Nice video. So, the best (cheap) phone with ois/eis whatever, to give nice video on 4k? Tell me to buy it right now.

Well I'm in 2022 now, and have drilled down a long way in YT to find your great vid that explains the differences between OIS (physical lens movement) and EIS (digital stabilisation). Thanks very much for your excellent video. However, I'm still trying to understand... There are 2 settings for my Samsung S10 Plus:- 1. Standard/default/regular Video Stabilisation (turned on/off in settings menu), 2. Super Steady (turned on by shaky hand icon which changes to UWA lens and 1080p). Questions:- Is number 1, only OIS or a combination of both OIS + EIS, or only EIS? And is number 2 OIS plus "a more advanced" EIS zoom/crop method, or is the apparent smoother action more to do with the trick of using the UWA lens? And does the S10 Plus use the earlier "Super Steady" or more recent "Super Steady OIS (lens shifting)"?

Wow that’s some high end jargon. Thanks so much for the info. Yes 5 axis ibis is what I subscribe to. Sensor shift or pixel shift is what Olympus have been doing together with their 5axis which they championed years ago. Their 5axis is still some of the best. With handheld milkyway taken with the last generation of em1m2. Now on the latest em1m3 they are doing handheld 50mp high res mode using the 5axis to stack into a large megapixel and bin down to 50, which out resolve traditional bayer pattern sensor without anti aliasing filters. With the rgb photosites overlapping it has colour depth and sharpness like stacked foveon sensors wonder if this is what huawei ryyb stacked sensor is doing. I tot deep fusion in and super res zoom in google pixel use this tech too, possible that hybrid zooms use this tech too, I know they have some AI hopefully someday topaz gigapixel AI level, sharpen denoise upscale. Enhance!

Why not colloborating with Action Cam company such as GoPro and DJI? As they both has the best action cameras and their stabilization algorithm is insane.

What about we combine all 3??? EIS+OIS+IIS(inbody imagine stabilization?)
@jannisdavidzwahlen4 жыл бұрын
Something like that already exists on huawei phones it's called AIS (Artificial Intelligence Stabilization) which combines OIS & EIS.

Евгений Пестун it’s basically where Samsung got their super steady from. Using an ultra wide lens and cropping in so the recorded area remains on sensor.

IBIS is "old tech" and its engineering into a small body (of a phone) is the challenge here. Will another level of cams bite the dust?

Very useful this explantions and summary! I do not understand why UW-Video/EIS is not tested more in the reviews (and valued in the ratings), especially since many complain about the crop-in on the main camera sensor. Still the focus seems to be on the main sensor megapixel, night pictures and selfie pictures when the main video has much more gain potential IMHO.

Doesn’t matter. Like the super steady on the s20. It’s great and all but only works in full hd and the quality doesn’t come close to even a mid range consumer mirrorless camera with video capabilities

Your eye is small, & the pupil is even smaller. U don't need something big to get resolution & quality. Hawk eyes R even much smaller than human ones & much higher res or whatever. I've noticed a Samsung smart phone that has much better picture & low light sensitivity than a much larger digital 'one purpose' camera. Also, when U get a cell phone, you get a real lithium ion battery instead of being skrood by a sea of fakes trying 2 extend the short time the included battery lasts. All these camera companies are digging their own grave mostly with the battery life & physical size issues.

I would never buy the sensor shift type of device; I do work with flexible cables and flat cables on daily basis, there are always troubles with moving boards and sensors, they don't have an alloy that is strong and flexible to last millions of movements without internal structural damage in that wire. Such sensor moves all the times during a video, and that causes internal flex cable stress. Wait a year or two until this technology gets better; monitor peoples complaints about camera failures
