This is one of the BEST Products made on the Market today! I have the 50 Amp Smartplug on my 5th wheel and it works great. It was easy to install onto my Shore Power cord and Easy to install the matching plug. Unless you are color blind, the plugs are color coded for putting the correct wire in the correct hole and locking them down. Smartplug does include a little bit of BLUE LOCTITE to make sure the screws won't back out, but I added a little extra to make sure. One thing with the Allen screws you have to be careful NOT to apply too much torque as you could strip the threads. Just snug them down and your done! Smartplug was kind enough to send me a whole bunch of their brochures, that I hand out to RVers at Campgrounds. Smartplug is a Great product and all RVers should consider swapping out their 30 or 50 Amp connecters on their RV's!

Did you ever do the follow on SmartPlug test video that you referenced at the end of this video? Can't seem to find one. I found one video that James of The Fit RV KZbin channel did when he installed the SmartPlug on his van. It was pretty good, but I always appreciate your expert take on these things.

I ALWAYS twisted and locked my standard setup. Didn't stop it from frying one day. I always checked the prongs for looseness, too. After the frying episode I switched to the SmartPlug. VERY easy DIY. Happy!

So happy my 5er has an electric Reel. Makes connecting to the power so much faster and I don’t have to find a place to store the power cable.

Hey Mike, do they make a connector that can connect two 2000 watts inverter generator (120v 15amp each) and produce or get 240v 30amp ?

I assume this is proprietary to one manufacturer, since this is an RV solution it would be nice if there were an international strandard for this plug or a similar solution. This Standard could be developed for the RV industry by the SAE.

I guess my trailer is old school. The plug is permanently attached to the trailer. I just pull the wire out of the side and plug it into shore power. I notice many new trailers have totally unattached shore power cords. I think I like my old technology better,

Just depends what you want/ choose. I currently full time in a Redwood and it has a very similar plug to the one Mike just demonstrated. My New Horizons coach I chose a powered cord just because of the weight of the 50 amp cord and I like keeping the cord off the ground. Our choices are many which is good.

@@22howards If you mean a powered cord reel, just remember there are additional maintenance procedures you need to do to keep it healthy. I can't remember if I've written anything on that lately, but I'll take a look.
