Hi Chelsea, I am a professor and I refer my students to your videos. Can you do a more in-depth video on how to use rubrics? I think it would be a game-changer for a lot of students. I am one who grades to my rubric to keep things as fair and as transparent as possible. P.S. I am always available for an "ask a professor" if students want an inside track.

Yes Rubics please. Iam currently studying a uni course in OZ and i cant find how to apply rubics. In OZ it is a very acedemic society.

As a returning adult college student, I have found your videos incredibly helpful. This one was especially helpful as I have several papers coming due soon. Using the rubric as a guide for an outline is a great tip that I am definitely going to use. I also never considered the possibility that most professors may never read all the way through papers. That is helpful to keep in mind. Thank you!

HI Chelsea. How would you break it down if the Rubric reads like this: a well-composed introduction and thesis statement; a well-organized presentation of the argument; a good choice of evidence of readings and lectures; a well written paper largely free of grammatical or spelling errors; a clearly worded conclusion that fulfills the promise of the thesis statement; evidence that the student is actively engaged, either by synthesizing the material in an effective way or by evaluating material given to them. I have ideas of what I want to write but am struggling with putting everything together in a way that really flows.

Thank you for this very helpful video! Question: is copying down the assignment from the rubric into headings on your paper not the same as plagiarism? I am just wondering in case I missed something. Thank you!
@smartstudent_official2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! That's a question question to ask - the goal isn't to copy them verbatim but to incorporate the keywords from the instructions into your section headings. This is how you avoid plagiarism. Good luck to you!

@smartstudent_official3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, well it sounds like you're well prepared! That being said, paper writing anxiety is a very real thing. Especially as your gaining your confidences/skills as an academic writer. My best advice is to take your paper section by section. If you get stuck, simply take a short break, move on to the next section, and come back to it with fresh eyes. You've got this!

Just a Professor saying yea, the fastest way to get full credit on a paper is to make the rubric words and structure pop right out. If I can find your right answers fast I can give you the points fast. We hunt for ways to give you points not ways to doc you- so the less I read the less chance I see any fuzzy bits or mistakes you might have made.
@smartstudent_official Жыл бұрын
Hey Zabet! Thanks for sharing. This is the whole premise of the method I teach students on my channel. Essentially, cut through the noise and pay attention to the keywords. Most professors have more papers to grade than time, so making the keywords accessible while mirroring the order the instructions came in is the best strategy for high scoring papers. I've actually been searching for a professor I can feature on my channel when discussing this. If you're interested, send me an email at support@mysmartstudent.com and we'll chat 😊
