Little Mac is unbelievably overpowered in the event your opponent doesn't have any long range game, grab game, consistent projectiles, off-the-stage game/edgeguarding, reliable air game/juggling, or the ability to counter/reflect. ...He is _king_ against Zelda.

I think another difference is that games aren't always about the story, you could be a hardcore gamer and never once consider them to be a medium for story telling... ...as far as I'm concerned, the FF7 spoiler is one of the most infamous in gaming history (especially considering that the FF series as a whole is one of the best selling franchises in gaming ever)...which so happens to belong to one of the most iconic games in gaming history! (The only spoiler I could think of that tops it is shiek being zelda in Oot...) With all that being said I can see someone hearing the spoiler and being surprised, cause like you don't tend to hear stuff like that for games...especially old ones! I remember being a bit surprised hearing it for the first time back when I didn't care about RPG's at all (I still don't really), I got over it pretty quickly tho after giving it some more thought...

As someone who does this all too often, I can help explain it to you guys who don't exactly understand why people do this. When this happens, usually it is caused by something that annoys the person in question. Extensively annoys, to the point of aggravation. Sometimes is compounded by a bad day, lotsa stress, or just anger at the person they are playing against. No matter the reason(and I mean this more than figuratively because the reason doesn't actually matter), the person will get more and more frustrated, often with themselves more than anything. There are two things to do in situations like this one for casual, one for tournaments Casual) Let them win, but let them win without making it obvious you're letting them win. If the person in question doubts even for a second you aren't trying your hardest, they will only get MORE angry. After a single win, they will simmer down a bit, after two or three, they will be approaching their normal selves again and normal play can resume. Just try not to do anything that might offend them(for some it can be something as simple and insignificant as changing characters, or even the offer to change characters). Competitive) If you can read this in your opponent EXPLOIT IT. I know all to well the ways of dealing with people like this. They will be almost primal in their aggression, fighting tooth and nail just to hurt you and your chances of winning, if not your enjoyment of the game entirely. This is easily dealt with at even low-level competitive play, as simply taunting them in or out of game further can make them act even more recklessly. The best example of doing this during a high level set is Leffin Vs Chillin in melee. The entire set a master class in psychological warfare, and it's effects show. I am guilty of all of these things to varying degrees, and I hope that this has shown some insight for people who may not know better. It's not your friend being an asshole for no reason. It's a matter of hurt pride/honor that can't be rectified outside of battle. If they don't feel accomplished, they will fume for likely the rest of the day, and maybe more. It's a good thing we aren't back in the middle ages or things like this would cause a lotta fatalities.
