I remember reading a comment that Dark Samus, while being a threat to the galaxy, had a different perspective that makes you think. Phazon originates from the planet Phaaze, which was actually alive. The Leviathan seeds are its means of reproducing. And then you have the Galactic Federation and the Space Pirates weaponizing Phazon, preventing the process. In addition, Dark Samus being originally Metroid Prime, there are instances where she goes out of her way in Prime 2 to free captive Metroids. There is no reason behind this than protecting the vulnerable members of her species. Samus, herself, is known for exterminating Metroids. These factors make it seem like Dark Samus views the rest of the galaxy as "evil", as the major factions have shown that they are willing to exploit Phaaze and fledgling Phazon planets for their own purposes and are willing to destory/subjugate her own species. Her desire to assimilate everything and everyone could be interpreted as her solution to these threats.

0:28 This line is interesting. At first it seems like she's referring to herself in the third person, but that seems out of place considering she never does that in the rest of the song. Could she be talking about Samus? After all, Samus's goal has always been to eliminate both phazon and the metroids (a goal she eventually succeeds at), so from the perspective of Dark Samus (aka Metroid Prime, a metroid heavily mutated by phazon), Samus kinda seems like the bad guy.

After watching the behind the lyrics for these musical bytes the lyrics could also be interpreted from a surface level about Dark Samus putting herself/itself/themselves (idk) on a pedestal as a godlike figure and every time the footage on screen cuts to the art we see on the thumbnail the rocks behind Dark Samus, and the energy behind the rocks look like these godlike glowing wings. Enforcing the idea of how Dark Samus is making herself/itself/themselves out to be this godlike figure annihilating hordes of inferiors.

I like how the songs for the vilians are usually all dark and edgy (like this and infinite) but then you have the other three songs are just so much fucking fun to listen to! Like I love how you capture the their motivation and what they're trying to do. King k. Rool wants them power bananas and to beat Donkey Kong and LOVES being in charge. Snake man wants to hypnotize MegaMan so they can be the most powerful union, Vega wants to kill all evil people and dark Samus is a fucking parasite that's trying to kill Samus, and I learned all that by watching smash bytes. That's saying something man! These are all great! Character motivation either makes or breaks a character and these songs make every character feel more.... I don't know what the word is but the music and lyrics just absolutely match every character and I hope that you keep up this FABULOUS work! Also I know I'm probably not the first person to ask this, but could you do a cover of other friends from Steven universe the movie? I'd love to see how you'd do spinels voice!

So I just noticed that most of the Smash segments featured one corrupted person fighting their former friends and allies. That was a nice touch, very flavorful. I appreciate the thought you put into even the background gameplay, as well as, of course, the ominous lyrics and fabulous singing. I would, however, suggest that maybe next time, the transition between the song and the end card could use another second or so. That way it doesn't swap so abruptly from ominous and sinister to the chill-but-cheerful end tune.

Is DS really evil? I mean, as far as I know metroids are just animals designed to fight the X, and phazon is just a semi-sentient parasitic mineral. I don't see the potential for conscious 'evil' in either, just a natural danger. The only other variable is the copying of Samus, but that always seemed as more of a physical adaptation than a full copy. Though it definitely does sound like something DS'd sing.

@@ChiropteraNightfall yes she is, Metroids are shown to have free will as perfectly shown by the Baby Metroid choosing to be good, and Dark Samus is a Metroid in terms of her origin, she may have been mutated but she’s still a Metroid, she chose her own path, combined with the fact that she is shown to understand how Phazon works, and she is shown to understand concepts like pain and suffering.

@@chadpeterson5698 I mean, I've never played personally any game other than the Prime series, however from what I understand from my time spent wikidiving way back when, the baby metroid didn't 'choose' to be good, it saw Samus as its mother. Just like if I recall there's a point about making sure the first thing a newborn animal in captivity sees it its actual mother, otherwise problems could occur. I don't know I'm not a zoologist. However, there is no doubt that metroids are animals. There is no doubt that phazon is very much a parasite. If there's anything sapient in Dark Samus, it'd be the result of copying Samus herself, and even then she always followed her metroid and phazon instinctual behavior more than anything else. Edit: I never got the impression she understood how phazon worked, really, I can't think of a single example of it.
