When Ganon is as slow as he is, it's harder to get 1 hit in than getting 10 hits in with a fast character. It may look like less work on the surface, but it takes a lot of patience and timing to look for an opening in that wall of slingshots.

They give play by plays and talk about what they see and hypothesize - nair out of shield, is it slower than before, etc - but most importantly they know when to switch between making jokes and giving play by play

Well, she can do more. It's just that this guy doesn't seem very experienced with her, which is reasonable since the game like just came out when this was uploaded. The way you separate good Isabelle players from the lame ones is by seeing how well they can improvise longer strings. There aren't many true or even hard to get out of combos that she has, she just has to make up her stuff on the spot, and good Isabelle players will be able to read their opponent as many times as they need to get an effective combo.

Almost all of them end up playing campy or "safe" but Isabelle, in my experience, plays best when they play as aggressive as possible. It almost feels like playing something like Fox or Wolf, just with more reads needed. I don't think that's lame at all, by most definitions of "lame." That's also why good Isabelles are super difficult to come by, because it requires a lot more prediction than most characters or campy Isabelles.

I feel bad for the isabelle. She literally getting all this hate for just being played how shes supposed to be played. Shit she also has to do so much just to even kill ganon. Ganon literally only need to lands like 3-4 hits to kill her. When you play a zoning character like isabelle. Shes strong against inpatient people. So if you get bodied by isabelle. Now I'm not a game designer, but something tells me that either one of the two players is not going to have a fun time; the zoner if the aggresor gets in, or the agressor if he gets walled out. From the spectators point of view it's also undesirable. Yet people are defending it with teeth and claws and call it skillful. It is bad game design.

Sure, but the key thing that I think separated good from lame Isabelle players is their ability to improvise strings. A lot of times when in training mode, I do all these combos, it looks real cool, and I go into the match. With other characters, it could've worked, but with Isabelle there aren't many true combos, so they just air dodge out of it. The player needs to be able to figure out their opponent and make read after read to get a good combo.

Pokepen played the matchup but I feel like he could've mixed up his gameplay. He doesn't dash dance with isabelle and with the mechanics of ultimate dash dancing would prove very effective as a way to outspace fairs, bairs, and maybe even wizard foot. Along with that it you could mix up grabs, up smash, tilts, f smash, and maybe even side b if you feel safe enough. Also I know it's slow, but if Pokepen went for more regular grabs in the first game he might've been able to get some kill throws or just combo starts from it.
