This is the time of the year Mullet are Full of Roe here in Florida. The Roe is Delicious Fried up in flour and corn meal!

Mullet are seriously under rated and delicious. In the old days they were an occasional by-catch in the nets of Scottish salmon fishermen and were their breakfast.

Wow, it’s a lot of work and it’s a labor of love. It’s a big job to put them nets out then go through them have to bring them back in again and it’s good to see your kid. Haven’t heard from you in a little while. How’s the family doing? You look good

Shore net commercially myself - if you want to save your hands and net mesh recommend using a fork to help lift the mesh from around gill plates.
@rabbitleader230711 ай бұрын
Do you do that on the UK mainland and what are the rules please regards your local IFCA?

That looks like so much hard work. Is it not possible to leave the nets out for multiple tides?
@johnnybreedt365311 ай бұрын
Loved it!!! Hats off to you boys doing that in that weather!!!!

Smash. This way of fishing clearly is better with a helper. If you were not there would he do everything alone? What about harvest that seem a lot more prone to accidents does he get help then?
@SMASHFISHING11 ай бұрын
Yes Matt would do this alone haha he’s done thing for a number of years , it’s not as heavy work as it looks , apart from the dreaded seaweed lol

In a perfect world anyone who could would be fishing with a rod and line for the table and family, I dislike netting but god almighty is it better than the commercial drag net fiasco killing everything in sight even coral, So fair play lads gave me another look at netting....Stilll rather the ol rod and reel though but hey i get it :)

do sea birds ever get trapped in the nets when they try to take fish from them ??.
@SMASHFISHING11 ай бұрын
It’s very rare to catch a bird as they can see the net, it does happen but not often

We were on the beach an hour an half , about £60 on that day , next day was a lot better , it’s very hit an miss depending time of time of year, also depending we’re the fish are round the island , could get nothing or could catch loads , guernsey has fish coming in and out all the time so it’s a gamble
