American Southwest. When I was a teen I would go back and forth El Paso to Denver sometimes 3 times a year. Listening to good music getting down off the bus at stations to skate into the small towns. Dark!

Fall into the century on a supersonic cross Blessed she in aching silence, eternal loss Calling out "I won't surrender a locket of her hair" Sympathize her pious pleasures, go down the stairs Into the dark again To feel alive again, and wait for Real love Or is it me you're after? Is it time? Cause it's now or never Real love Real love forever Real love Born of the ball and chain Into a world sustained with sorrow Real love A real touch we speak in Is it lies? Or is what we're seeking? Real love In the eyes, behold and you'll find the 21st century Detonate her will and her widowed speech Buried in the backyard shadow, the rusty coffee tin That held her mother's first kiss in a nameless dream Fall down the stairs again To feel alive against tomorrow Real love Or is it me you're after? Is it time? Cause it's now or never Real love Real love forever Is it love? Or just yours to treasure? Real love Real love Real love We never listen Real love will listen And tell of a fortune Real love is riches Scratch through the changes Real love is nameless So tired and hopeless Real love is painless Nobody mentions We ever move to collect The solar questions Demon scorn should not relax The laws of gravity Real love

I can't believe how insanely beautiful this song is. One of my all time fav SP tunes....I do wish this song was recorded a little better without the peaking of the audio.... Perhaps on the Machina 2 reissue (whenever that comes out).

With the time and effort Billy puts into mixing and perfecting his albums, it's unlikely he just let this one through unless it sounded the way he wanted. The off-key intro and synth during chorus pretty much tells you this is supposed to sound off. There's many layers of sound in this song that normally wouldn't go well together, and yet it's beautiful. The distortion/fuzz is simply one of those layers. I find the combination causes the mind to white-noise the instruments and you end up focusing on Billy's voice.

Incredible work - the images go really well with the song! With some band footage here and there it could have been the official video :)

Very cool media! Excellent work. Keep i up. You have good taste. Song is in my top 20 SP songs and the visuals added to the emotional pull in a way I hadn't thought of. It had always been black white in my mind so the colors are a cool new way to see what is such. Simple but complicated song. Thank you. Much love forever. Real live , at least I'll try. For anything closer to real

Agreed, I like the road sequences and several of the night sky lapses. A couple of the night sky scenes and all of the daytime/cloud lapses don't seem to work quite as well though.

I play Smashing Pumpkins in my car with the windows down in hopes of spreading at least a trickle of good music onto younger generations. Even if they don't become instant SP fans, they can get a taste of what good music can sound like. The condition that copyright laws combined with record labels' depressing habit of possessing their client's music and then doing essentially nothing but sit on it after that music has stopped raking in high album sales has really created a bad environment for new artists. Eventually (such as with dubstep) people will have little choice for creating a new sound than to mix together completely random sounds and try to apply a rhythm to it. Or (such as with dubstep) they ignore rhythm altogether and just generate a handful of songs with an algorithm and then throw them on the internet to see if they get any bites.

This is a very intriguing anecdote. Being a 16 year old myself, and a huge SP fan, I really appreciate you doing something as cool as that. I wish my generation listened to good music, supported good artists and actually took the time and patience to really appreciate art. I had Thru They Eyes Of Ruby playing on my speakers when some friends came over and the first thing they did was to switch my music to some crappy Drake song. This generation really indulges in mindless activities and "art". Today's artists need better support and record labels are only aiming for catchy, "2018-worthy" music. Actual talented artists don't get enough credit these days. It's a sad state of affairs.

Re 3:35 "We ever move to *collapse*..." I think. It's like he's admitting he won't consider the question of whether the Sun goes around the Earth. Maybe he has real love for those who don't question it.
