When Thirty Days started, Billy Corgan set out on a mission of rediscovering small town America. On Day Sixteen, he explored two different towns with different histories. And it was in Laredo, TX that Billy found out the power of his fans and social media.

Gary Jones I agree. I do take part of what I said back though. A photo or so is fine for sharing, but when Billy is playing literally in front of them and they're viewing it looking down at their phones while recording, I take issue with that.

Being awake opens you to so many feelings and connections. I have been awake most of my life and get those feelings you felt at the hanging tree quite often. Your hair on your body standing on end, emotions that you feel that you cannot explain, sometimes it is shadows and sometimes it is actual sounds. It only confirms to me that we are all connected. I don't blame him for basically hanging up on that guy at the beginning. Yeah, it's pretty amazing and surreal when you get to speak on the phone to a legendary singer who's music you practically grew up on...but you _don't_ say stupid shit like "Oh I can't believe I'm talking to you!" or especially "Oh man, I'm freaking out right now!!" You're instantly putting yourself into a category that celebrities not only dislike, but have seen/heard practically every day of their celebratory life. I know if I was as famous as him I wouldn't wanna bother with that shit either.

I think most people that have become famous have a hard time to some degree of dealing with fame. It goes to your head. I couldn't imagine people freaking out when they see me or professing their love for me-without really knowing me. That has to be hard. People can be scary with that too. I do not at all blame any celebrity that wants to be left alone and eat a nice meal somewhere getting upset that they are interrupted by fans, paparazzi, etc. I can see that after years of being out of the limelight, it is somewhat of a reset button as your presence wains. I'm sure it's nice to have a decent conversation that is not about your craft at times too. The song "Limelight" by Rush comes to mind with all of this.

I love this spontaneous, relaxed concept of him just traveling around talking to every day people without a real plan - the only thing that gets me is the way EVERYBODY gets out their phones and starts recording him like he’s some kind of freak show. Fortunately Billy’s used to it, but man. The whole idea here is that this ISN’T a press event or a show. Can’t people just relax and enjoy the experience? I mean he’s got his own cameraman, so you’re going to be in the video anyway.. Jesus.
