Have you guys ever talked about anticipation vs reaction? I'm having some smashers at my local insist with 100% sincerity they can parry anything off REACTION.

I think theory and practice are like two sides of the same coin. You need theory to know what to practice and you need practice to execute on theory. Even though I think if someone only practiced they would probably improve much more quickly than someone who only does theory but that's not because theory is less important than practice it's because the more you practice the more likely you are to subconsciously developing theory.

Editor Alto here, this episode was actually really fun to watch through! It's on the longer side of things though so there was a lot more to do as well! Eventually as time goes on I do wanna add back in the timestamps, those were very useful for everyone and I would love to keep them up! All in all, wow what a cool video!

I agree with a lot of points about the pratice based mentality of players, I play greninja and when I was able to implement theoretical way of thinking and implement more frametraps on floatier characters I can get much earlier kills

Im the complete opposite from a Labrat. The only time i spend in training mode is to check the moves of a character, their basic bnb and maybe later on the different properties of a move. Like which moves beats the move that caused me problems. My neutral is very good in FGs, everytime a new game comes out i just feel how most ppl struggle to win. But after a few days/hours they already downloaded the combos of their favorite streamer and making me a hard time to play out the game. My point is i guess thats the curse of playing fighting games. Either talent or study cant help you alone to be great in them. You have to do both grinding real matches and grinding the theory in the lab.

I find it kinda ironic that a podcast all about the theoretical aspects of the game is discussing the viability of theory vs in practice. Yall are tryna make your audience run away fr
