Im an advocate of the caster Omnaoto and explayer/content creator Shogun. They are two critical people who kept the competitive scene interesting to newer and younger viewers, which i think was important to keep the japanese scene active and fresh. Its a shame that especially Omnaoto doesn't get recognized as much overseas due to his language and the type of profession. His skills as a commentaror and the depth of knowledge to the game is so good that i can't think of anyone, in Japand and out of Japan, that is even close. Like he just casted a 70k viewed Vtuber smash tournament with items for 8 hours straight and he was talking about every detail of the items and stages.

1:00:20 the point on adaptation/reads is spot on and how much harder it is in ultimate (loved tony nodding along on the side xD)

yeh is harder.

Maybe in the future you guys should try inviting a Japanese coach? Would be better to get their perspective as an actual coach for Japanese players. Then you'll have a coach from NA EU and Japan

Really interesting episode. I’m biased as a falcon player, but Tony’s tidbit about Jogibu in the beginning of the episode really intrigued me and I would love to hear more about it. Regardless keep up the great work
@jackmccoy68007 ай бұрын
Probably talking about how Jogi has beat top Japanese players who have beaten better Americans than the ones he lost to, so the losses he took can be chalked up to discomfort. Same way we caveated the Japan only top 8s golden weekend

@@jackmccoy6800 Except that he's also been getting poor results in Japan for the past few months.

Loved this conversation, I want to see how far Japan can upgrade their cars to even further beyond Formula 1, before NA starts realizing their Nascar cars are not enough.
@nathanlevesque78127 ай бұрын
Saying it used to be 'player vs player' rather than a clash of gameplans just makes it sound like NA players didn't bother to learn strategy. Which would help explain why it's the saltiest region, and the specific character hate.

I think its fair to say TamaPDaifuku is easily the best Bayo player in the world He's consistent, and has had awesome results in all his majors!! He's honestly my hero. I love his creativity. Japan is rising for sure. I dont know what they be on. But I want some!! Lol 😂

And also. Could you guys maybe make an episode on TamaP? He's come a long way. I'd love that. Thanks so much guys! Love the episodes.

great rant by Ramses, haha :D agreed with most of what he said. Great insight, both from a game aswell as a cultural perspective

i feel like america's greatest issue is striking a balance between theory and practice, because it's very difficult for someone to manage both on their own with cooperation

Ok, my Bad if it's corrected later in the video or if I'm wrong but... Japan isnt a small country x') It's the same size as freaking Europe !! Heck, it's as long as usa coast to coast. They eventually have better transportation, or maybe the active scenes are clustered idk but it's definitely not "small"
@jackmccoy68007 ай бұрын
Canada Usa and Mexico are all bigger than all of Europe no? (I’m really not sure) And I think they were more talking about the density, all the important tourneys and locals are within a close enough radius of each other that flying would take longer than just taking the train or driving, making it way easier to play against a wide array of players
@legrandliseurtri74957 ай бұрын
@@jackmccoy6800 Nope. Europe is slightly bigger than Canada, which is slightly bigger than the USA, which is quite a bit bigger than Mexico.

gatekeeping tech has stagnated the western meta. i think with 80 plus characters we still have things to learn and unlearn about smash ultimate.
@614showtime7 ай бұрын
Strongly disagree with Tony about how Mexico was viewed in smash 4. Hyuga was doing very good before Leo got a visa and people were anticipating Leo’s involvement in US/Canada tournaments because Mexico has already shown to be good even without their best player. There was a whole 2GG saga for Mexico before Leo even made his mark. I think that’s super impressive even if they didn’t have multiple top 5 players yet

japanese players hardly ever mod their switch’s so everyone else should have an advantage in this aspect and for wifi grinding with delay mod. + training mod i suppose. the japan small so wifi better seems like a really dated take.
