People say Blender's UI is confusing, but like, have you ever tried using 3DS Max?
@jalexorxeАй бұрын
Different workflow, different UI, doesn't mean it's harder, it's based on non-destructive work from a set of modifiers, that's the spearhead of 3dsmax, that's why it's so versatile. And if you look at it from another point of view, of all the interfaces of other similar programs, 3dsmax is the most similar to Blender's, even though it has used the same method as Maya of being able to switch workspaces. Blender has learned from its competitors and adapted it to its workflow, and that's great.

Something like 3D Coat, ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag or Substance apps is just like you can pick it up easily in few sessions and it doesnt hurt your eyes.

This will only change the way of animating within Blender, which is 10 years out of date. These same functions were already available in Maya and 3dsmax years ago and were better. So it will not “change animation forever”, it will make it easier, more organized and following current standards for Blender users.

U can't make complex facial rigs in blender easily, and the deformation result is bad, that's why even blender studio doesn't attempt to do them much, unless it's extremly cartoony stuff. like sprite fright and forgot the name of the second movie. The difference between blender and programs like Maya is that blender is completely free and Maya is over a thousand dollars a year to own (just for the cheapest plan). Its changing the animation world because its effectively removing the need for existing animators, and new animators alike to pay copious amounts of money that frankly, none of us have, for animation programs. Blender may not be making new features, but it is making features like these accessible to anyone. Remember that their main agenda is to make a professional animation program that is completely free for anyone.

This is starting to sound like Moho where you have smartbones and actions. The actions can be layered on top of each other so that one action might have a character closing their hand into a fist and the other action might have the hand fanning their fingers outward. Each action is tied to a bone that acts like a dial. Then you can mix the two. Or three or four or how many you want controlling the particular animation.

One thing Blender needs to take a page from is the Auto-IK implementation in DAZ Studio, it just "works". Yes, Blender does have an Auto IK-Rig but its not as "auto" as DAZ's. This is more pronounced when you import boned characters into Blender but you cannot pose them as well as what DAZ can. DAZ also has a tool called Puppeteer which allows users to place poses onto a 2D graph, then use the mouse to "tween" between the poses in that graph depending on the mouse x,y position. You can also layer on animations using this tool. Then it has the Animate2 tool, which is like an NLA - from like 15 years ago. That means animators can quickly pose, prototype and layer on an animation very quickly in DAZ, and I dare say faster than Blender. Blender needs to have a good IK rig first, DAZ does not. Blender will win all day with refined and finished animations, but sometimes we don't want to go through all of that setup/rigging/etc... just to get a semi decent animation going.

These slotted actions look a bit like animation clips in Unity. Each channel in those clips has the object name as a prefix. Actually, only for nested child objects, top level channels does not have prefixes. This way you can animate an object with all the children at once in a single animation clip. It's great when it comes to editing them all together. Nice to have feature. Good news, thank you.
