Ultimate Warrior I’m in the same boat. Only “non warranty voiding” mod I still want is HT Autos flares but I’m scared to cut my car. Specifically the rear quarter panels. I could buy new fronts but once you cut the rears, there’s no going back lol.

No mods can legally void a warranty unless said company can prove the mod was the cause of the failure

Yes but all of the popular engine modifications are easily linkable for SOA to a failed engine

Another great video! I finally got my first real performance mods installed over the weekend, the Perrin front strut bar, rear 25mm sway bar, and spherical endlinks. The day after, I went for a drive on one of my favorite roads, and all I can say is WOW, the cornering is night and day different. It eats curves for breakfast now. If anyone is considering these, I HIGHLY recommend them.

Late to the party, but I love your explanation on why getting an etune/protune is so important and that the OTS maps are short term! There are a lot of people in my area modding Subaru's but just running OTS maps and I keep stressing to them how important it is to get a proper tune done before any damage can be done. I hope if anyone can take something away from this video its the importance of tuning

Hey man, love the content. keep up the good work. I do have a question for you though... I purchased my first WRX about a year ago (2011 WRX limited sedan in PBP). The car came with an invidia catted downpipe, invidia n1 single exit exhaust, Cobb Accessport, SF airbox and Cobb short shifter and it is running the Stage 2+ OTS tune. The car now has 159000km on it and I feel it needs some love to bring it back to life.... I plan to get a Protune and AOS soon and I understand it's about the time to do the timing belt/water pump but... What modifications/upgrades can I do to improve the drivability of the car? The car is rust free which is quite a find for where I'm from (Canada) and I plan on keeping it for years to come as year-round DD (it will be winter driven). I'm thinking more in the realm of reliability as it will be a daily driver. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! also if any commenter sees this id love you hear your suggestions as well

Smeedia great content dude, but I have to agree/disagree on your 4th item especially if you are new to owning a Subaru and/or stick shift. I AGREE that a short shifter should be one of the top mods you do but I DISAGREE that it should be one of the first. I feel you should drive at least 20k on the stock shifter and then do the upgrade so you can really feel what improved. Of course doing it early is not going to hurt anything but you'll never know how good it improved the feel over stock. Keep up the great work, I'm so glad I discovered your channel.

Just bought a 2019 sti, I had a 2013 sti before and ran an ots map from cobb with their downpipe and intake. Now I wish I got a pro tune for that one, because the gains didn't feel that significant but I just didn't wanna spend the extra money for a pro tune. Needless to say I'm going to do things properly this time. It does help the 2019 has stronger internals.

The Cobb Stage 2 off the shelf map made my 2004 STi run like crap. It actually made less power on the dyno than Stage 1. After 6 dyno pulls, my tuner managed to get the car to run smoothly. It made 262 AWHP and 293 AWTQ on 91 California pump gas. Modifications were Titek catted DP, walbro 255 fuel pump, APS 65mm CAI and the tune.

My personal opinion is the short shifter from the factory is worth it. I test drove a 2023 wrx premium, with the Sti shifter from factory and the gear box was tight. No shifter shake, no slip, every gear was easily found unlike some other manual cars I’ve owned. I’m going to be taking a 2023 wrx limited they have coming in. I was going to wait to order the TR, but for $48k msrp as rumored, I just don’t see the benefit. I can add Sti brakes to the 2023 limited, im most likely going to add lowering springs as I want it to be daily driveable and I don’t need recaro seats as the stock Subaru seats are pretty on point. Also to note, you move up to 19” wheels over the 18”. I’d rather have 18” wheels as their are more people who stock an 18 over a 19”. The tr comes with the same engine, Brembo brakes Tuned springs Recaro seats Some alcantara on the dash No sunroof 19” wheels All this for $48k, I can literally do all that for less and have every being I want

Thank you for the very informative video! I just bought my 18 sti and I had a few questions if you could clear the air :) 1. Am I able to run a turboback exhaust with a stage 1 ots tune? 2. Are you running a catless dp or would you recommend catted, if so which? 3.Should i never upgrade my tmic to a fmic if i have a downpipe on the car? 4. Keeping your sti stage 1+ turboback+ fmic the safest option for your car? I really do appreciate the time you put into the vid ty.

For a turbo back you'll want the stage 2 map 😁 Catted downpipe 100% and either grimmspeed or Cobb 🙏 If you do swap the intercooler you'll want an Etune or a dyno tune. Safest option would be add some fueling mods like injectors, fuel pump and then get a custom tune done 🙏

Hey it’s been awhile, love what you have done with your sti wrap, hood heat extractors, and Subispeed headlights. This list seems like it’s pretty much what I’ve been doing. Here’s my list for my beginners build: 2015 STI 95k miles COBB Accessport MAPerformance Stage 2 93 (OTS) MAPerformance Intake MAPerformance GESI catted down-pipe Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust IAG Street air-oil separator Mishimoto performance radiator Getadomtune coolant mod I had to delay any more mods because I had to fix a transmission leak at the cv axle, which led to replacing the axle, which led to replacing the bushings and then I didn’t realize the top bolt on the strut was a camber bolt... anyways, just need to do the short shift mod then a really good etune. Mostly did my mods for reliability and power.

Also when you do injectors you should look into getting some from fuel injector clinic, i had ID and they were a little small and i saw the price for FIC and im giving them a try, they come in a plastic case and have all the flow match data and everything else included. Customer support seems a lot better as well, sent them an email about a question i had and the owner of the company emailed back like an hour later. Couldnt be happier with the experience with them

So I'm the odd man out here, I really care about efficiency (with no increase in emissions) and smooth driving experience, lower end, linear power delivery. I've got a F20 FXT with three different mapping buttons, can I have a tune for each one? E.g. The standard one would be very efficient and the other two would be more aggressive. Can we tune to have the Miller cycle? Do any of these mods hurt efficiency? Doing the exhaust should drop a significant amount of weight relative to stock.

nice job bro ive had 14 stis from my first 2004 java black pearl bought back in 2006 (used) and back then if u saw an STi let alone an STi with a turbo back exhaust and blow off that was like seeing a Unicorn holding hands with polar bear lol. and ive also owned 7 WRX (x3 2002 bugeyes, 1 05 wrx wagon, x2 wrx widebodys and a 15 wrx.) and ive also built over 55 wrx, sti, legacy 2.5 gt, forester xt's and even a few saab 9-2 those were just ej205 motors and trans its basically was a wrx in a saab wagon body. but anyway keep up the good work love the channel.

I’ve read a lot of the comments below but just to clarify you’re saying the 15+ WRX (not the STI) is better off with both the higher flow intake AND a J pipe in front of a catback exhaust. I’m just setting up my ‘20 WRX and starting to order parts. I’m also doing Trophy Cup coilovers and a rear sway. I was advised to not do the front sway. I’m not building a track car but a twisty car...

wow, your first three suggested mods are over $2000 (going with a quality turbo-back). With a turbo-back, your #1 suggestion is almost a must, so add $700 to whatever turbo-back you choose. And I thought Rally Armour flaps was a bit steep. I'm surprised you did't mention wheels, tires, aero bits like front lip, skirt extensions, and rear spats or diffusers, and vortex generators. Might as well give an honorable mention to pulley covers and stickers/decals of various kinds too.

This past June I bought a 19 STI Base with STI short shifter at 5k miles. I looked under the hood during “courtship” before delivery and saw a COBB AOS. Otherwise it’s bone stock. Should I be concerned since original ownership lasted less than 5k miles??? I understand warranty is void but I plan on running as stock as a daily driver can until I start upgrades. There are NO issues whatsoever and I’m really enjoying the sh¡t outta my dream car 🥰🤣
