This video is helpful to learn the basics of how to use that new old little piece of history :) Recently inherited this one. There is a film in it when i opened it too (oops). Now i wonder how to proceed. Any tips on how to check if it is all used up or still with frames left? Frame count is at 0.

You can advance the film and start taking photos and see when the film ends (the way you see in the video). Otherwise you should remove the film after winding it completely, by pressing and holding the film advance lock button and rotating the film rewind button until it is completely rolled back (you will feel no resistance rotating when it does). This way you can potentially salvage any images that were recorded and load a new film and take your own photos.

@@FilmCameras thank you. I shall share the end result of this. Excited to see what frames I could salvage and then take new shots too. Pleased to have found your channel and video.

What is the vertical black line on the side of the winding knob for ?
@FilmCameras3 жыл бұрын
It is just how the knob is made. It's not anything functional regarding taking photos.
@ianwilkinson46023 жыл бұрын
@@FilmCameras It is not part of the manufacturing process, the vertical line is either painted or printed on, it must be the same on yours too, it has to be there for a reason.

Not sure which line you mean. That there are many versions with small differences in these cameras during all the years of production. If you mean the line on the side "neck" of the knob (see this image: www.sovietcams.com/sovietcams/m/m_images/wfiles/ikk5g05751.jpg ) then this is actually a notch, probably to facilitate removal if needed.

@@FilmCameras Hi, yes you are absolutely right, I didn't have my reading glasses on. The camera didn't want to perform as per spec at all in the winding department as you explained it. I have I think sorted it out, the cogwheel is quite worn, so was not rotating as it should I was using an empty film reel with a tongue of old film protruding as the take up reel, the new squared off new film taped to it ( a variation on your method ) which functions well but doesn't rotate the cogwheel hardly at all. So I removed the back of the camera, put some pressure on both cassettes to make the film tighter on the cogwheel, it worked a treat. Then I thought "pressure plate"or similar, so I cut two 5mm wide equal lengths of self- adhesive light foam, and placed them inside the back of the camera vertically where each cassette was positioned, then as belt and braces a horizontal strip between the two vertical pieces the same width, about 10mm below the level of the cogwheel, there was no resistance when closing the back. It now functions as per your video I am glad to say, there is no drag or resistance when winding on, the foam is very thin, only time and results will show how effective it will be :-) The camera came as part of a small job lot and was the lesser of the four cameras, but even so, I still wanted it to work properly. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction, cheers.
