I inherited my grandfathers. Leather case is long gone and it could really use a dusting. I don't know what to use to clean up the outside body but I don't want to further mess it up. When I opened it up to see how bad the inside looked there was still a roll of film in it! GAH!! Now what? Who knows how long this film has been sitting in this camera in the hot attic. Surely no good I suppose. Most of the cameras on Ebay all look about the same with the slightly pitted metal and loads of cakey dust. Don't know if the lens is full of fungus it is so tiny. But it is still a family heirloom in my eyes.

Since you found a film inside, rewind it completely with the back cover closed to avoid any further light leaks (see the video for instructions). Take it to a photography shop which develops film. There might be a (small) chance to actually see these photos taken years ago. The metal of this camera is actually aluminium (since metal was expensive in post - war years) and that is why it is getting very easily stained. You can try aluminium polishers but I think it will loose its authentic old patina look. In any case it is a very nice piece of family history for you to keep!

Great job on this video. It's perfect The only slight thing you have to watch out for is, on the exposure dial on the back of the camera, it's not measuring the ISO of the film, it's a slightly older version of measuring film sensitivity. It's not far off ISO, but I don't rely on it with my Mercury 2 as it's awkward to use. But other than that, amazing work matey, you should be proud 😊

Always toyed with the idea of buying one of these native-made, half-frame, wonders of the age camera's, just have my doubts about repairs if previous owners hadn't cared well for it through its life, since I'm not gonna dismantle several for the need to restore a single one to still shoot. It's about preserving something of their past, as well as having a working platform to shoot.

I tried changing the shutter speed before advancing the film and now the film advance knob will not turn nor will the shutter go off. Any way to fix this?

Thank you for deciphering those rings on the back! If I may ask, what type of cable release would work with this camera?
