I have this camera. I just tried to pull the lense out but it won't budge...even tried to use pliers. It doesn't appear rusty. Should I try wd 40 or am I missing something? Thank you for any help.

Which film would you suggest me to use for this camera
@FilmCamerasКүн бұрын
First of all I would suggest that you use a 400 ISO (ASA) film. You can also use lower ISO but definitely not higher than 400. That is because the camera has automatic exposure and you can set the ISO only up to 400. So any film with higher ISO will have wrong exposure. Always remember to set the camera's ISO to the same value as the film's you are using, and leave it there. Apart from that, you can use black & white and colour films depending on what you like. For B&W I would go for the Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm which is cheap, easy to find and with great results. Colour films are a bit more expensive and produce different results. Have a look online for samples of colour films and choose the one that you prefer aesthetically the most.
@jkt626-aКүн бұрын
@ thanks a lot for the detailed response🙏🙏🙏I prefer colour one, maybe iso is 200(i would like to use it with sun light). I m just a beginner of film camera, I would like to use some affordable film like Fuji or Kodak

Hello!! Amazing video!! I was wondering if you have any advice for shooting with a flash? Should I be making any adjustments to account for the flash or will the camera do it automatically?

Why is there no glass lense on this camera? I have the same model also without any glass lense but found some No. 1s with glass lense in the Internet. Are the two types one with and one without?
@FilmCameras19 күн бұрын
In some variations of these models, the glass lens is behind the shutter blades, and so it seems as if it is missing. You can see the lens from the interior, once you open the back. There are other variations with different shutter/lens mechanisms.

What happens if you want to shoot in low light without the flash? Will it still let you take an underexposed photo or will it lengthen the shutter speed?
@FilmCameras22 күн бұрын
It depends on how dark it is. It will automatically try to lower the shutter speed. I think it goes down to 1/8 which helps, but if it is too dark you'll end up with underexposed photos.

I used to find these in thrift stores and on FB marketplace for $20-50 each and resell them for $125-150 on Amazon, they always sold fast.
@THESONICSPEEDDEMON25 күн бұрын
So if you pre focus doesn’t that also automatically activate the timer? Cause I see you press the shutter once more to take the photo but in the timer demonstration you only press the shutter once which sounds just like when you do the pre focus
@FilmCameras25 күн бұрын
The button is the same. The difference is that by the time you press the shutter button for the 1st time, you have 10 seconds to pre-focus, otherwise it will fire as a self timer.
@THESONICSPEEDDEMON25 күн бұрын
@ oh so once you pre focus that also automatically sets the timer off and the only way to cancel the timer at all is to push the mini level back up before press the shutter at all?
@FilmCameras25 күн бұрын
You don't have to cancel the timer if you are going to take a photo after pre-focusing. The cancelling button is only for when you don't want the timer or you don't actually want to take a photo after pre-focusing.

@@FilmCameras oh ok. I was wondering cause what if I’d need sometime arrange the subjects in the photo or moving into the pic after prefocuding. Would it be damaging to the camera to test out the functions without film in it?
@FilmCameras25 күн бұрын
You can definitely test it without film to get used to the functions.

No, it doesn't. You have to use the focus ring. This camera was made almost 20 years before the first auto focus one.

If I try to rewind the film, as shown, The release-button stays down, I can lift the rewind me4chanism, but it won't turn. Any ideas?
@FilmCamerasАй бұрын
Maybe there is something wrong with the rewind mechanism? Try keeping the release-button pressed with your finger while rewinding. This might help. Otherwise, if something is broken, you can unload the film in complete and total darkness, by opening the back and removing it and rolling it back in by yourself.

Do I have to hold down the lever when taking the photo even after I shut it to the right shutter speed? Or I just push and let go and the camera will take care of the speed according to the shutter setting ?
@FilmCamerasАй бұрын
No you don't need to hold the lever, unless you are using "B", in which case, you hold it for the desired time.

I fixed my AE-1 Program today from the canon "Cough" with a bit of Monkey Lube lubricant and 5 minutes. Just had to take of the base-plate and not lose the impossibly tiny screws...This camera sounds like new, gold, love, and everything I ever wanted in a film camera. If you come across one and it squeaks...don't be discouraged.

Thanks for this film. I have recently found this camera in my parent's belongings and I want to give it a shot. I'm just wondering 1 thing. If the "EV" - "Aperture" = "Shutter speed" is clear - it makes me wonder if this is default calculation for ISO100 film? Is there any simple calculation taking in the consideration also ISO? If I use ISO 400 the calculation won't work, right?
