103apartment my apologies. I'm glad I could give you a little inspiration. If you want to send me some pictures of your boat I'd be glad to feature them on one of my videos.

If I inherited a boat with the seats already removed, what’s the best way to add that rigidity back?

I used bondo body filler and it's hard as steel. I'd say bondo will do just fine for those tiny holes. Michael Lopez was repairing a boat with a huge gash at the bottom of the hull and the previous owner used bondo body filler and he said that it was hard as cement if not harder and it was fine. Not to say that michael Lopez is a professional but he's been doing this for quite some time now.

Bondo is a temporary fix on a boat. It’s main use is an automotive application and even on car panels it won’t last very long. On a boat where it’s constantly getting wet it will not last very long at all.

Jerry Moua leave the holes open it wont matter if the water ever gets that high on the sides your going to sink anyway

Do you think that a small jon boat such as a 10' Grumman, needs the support as it isn't a large span? I'd really like to open up the inside of the boat into more of a Bathtub so I can stand at floor level for stability...

I’d say if it was there to begin with they needed it for something more than a seat. If that’s all it was intended for then they would have saved the money and left it out. Thanks for watching man.

Do you have a video on how to modify a bench seat to incorporate storage space underneath it? I hope that makes sense, or would you not suggest tampering with the bench seat?
@SMG_627 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Chicoine as long as you don't take out the structural integrity of the seat itself you should be fine. Just remember that those seats are also stuffed with foam so you should replace that flotation somewhere else in the boat.

removing rivited in bench seats is a HUGE ;pain in the ass... i used a center tap to get the center perfectly started, then drilled it with a small bit then went to the final bit size.

I'm not sure if you got the point of the video. lol DO NOT REMOVE THE BENCH SEATS! Or if you do make sure to reinforce it to make up for what you remove!
@renesadventures8294 жыл бұрын
are the seats you removed aluminum as well? or are they tin?
@SMG_624 жыл бұрын
I did not remove any seats. This was a video I did in response to a lot of people asking me how to do it. The point of the video was you should NOT remove a bench seat. They were put there in the first place to provide structural rigidity. If the company only put it in for the purpose of a seat they would have done something much cheaper and cost effective to begin with.

Anyone that has removed the middle bench seat and livewell from a 1448 or 1648 lowe big jon, let me know. I'll buy it from you.
