+Bernie Scheiner thanks. I was thinking this was going to be quick but it is really detailed trying to make sure everything is sturdy enough and still functions the way I want it to. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for subscribing!

Just wondering if you did a estimated cost sheet for each phase of your build... That would be a great help to for many of us who are in the process of starting a saving jar to use toward a rebuild project. Example. approx how much for Alum Angle, Channel, misc things etc. and the wood used etc... You restores is really looking good and giving me a lot of DYI insight as to what I kinda need to do or not to do when I do MY FIRST BOAT project.

Ok ok... here oohs my question with all the builds that rivet angle aluminum. When you set the floor in the "joists" are not level. Overlapping martial and rivets. The flooring and hatches will be uneven

I’m not sure I understand your question fully but the fact is most of us doing these “bass boat conversions” are using boats that are older and about 20years away from being “level” so good luck trying. And when it comes to riveting and worrying about it being uneven for the deck and hatches most use either 1/16” or 1/8” aluminum angle and it really isn’t enough to make a noticeable difference. If you can’t stand it being slightly off I’d say learn to weld aluminum and you’re good to go. Thanks for subbing I’m glad my video could help solve an issue you were having.

I haven't finished your project vids yet. I'm excited to see the finished boat. I've done 4 conversions already but I used thicker aluminum with all recessed hardware. Y'alls method was one I hadn't ever considered. The metal being 1/16" is what I hadn't accounted for. I was picturing 1/8"...waaaaay different.

How thick of aluminum angle are you using? And what length rivets?
@SMG_627 жыл бұрын
I think the thickest aluminum I used was 1/8th inch. But you really don’t need to use that all around. Just where you need it to be extra sturdy. As far as the rivets go you don’t want them more than like a half inch longer than the material your binding together so make sure you have a good assortment. Also the thicker the rivet the stronger it’s going to be. Don’t cut corners and get really thin rivets because you’ll just have to replace them after a year like I did with my 14ft jon boat.

SMG is 3/16 too skinny for the rivets? Thanks for the quick reply!

That should work great. Another tip when using rivets is to make sure the hole your putting the rivet in is as tight as you can get. I’d love to see some pictures of your project btw. You can tag me on Instagram or Facebook if you want.
