Good video Trucker Brown! When i was trucking your approach was similar to mine. Also leave after midnight if you can. The camera captures those vicious bumps in the freeway very accurately too! Hope all is well and you still out there doing the damn thing!

"Speak from the hip" as in "fire from the hip". I'm a fan, man fr! This is as far as I got in the videos tho so I hope all is well. I'm a guy who made the decision to drive a truck *today!* because I'm single and I wanna REALLY challenge myself (I already know how to bake) aaaand COVID gave me, umm, a clean slate in the job department lol. Not like I was doing great before, but I digress... So I'm watching KZbin videos about trucking and then stg my cousin who's a cop and can fking do anything is like "hey let's drive truck. I'm like "you son of a bitch! I'm in." I can do anything I set my mind to through God so now I'm watching your videos, absorbing as much information as possible. This one really helps because it shows it can be done so I can do it! Thanks alot!

Love video's like this. As an European driver I've been to the Paris and Berlin city centers. Trust me those cities are an nightmare for a trucker. (small old streets) Would love to drive a truck in the states.

I’ve been an otr driver for a little over a year now and have been to most of the major cities with NYC being one of the exceptions and the one I have dreaded going to the most. Found out today that’s where we are about to head to and have been trying to do a lot of studying on how to tackle that beast and your video has given me a much needed confidence boost for the trip and I wanted to say thank you that. I will take your advice to heart

We're a lot smaller, and amateurs to boot. I drive a Chevy Duramax, 4Dr dually, and we pull a 44' fifth wheel with it. But, we drive exactly the way you suggest. My wife keeps track of maps, the GPS, turns, lanes, etc. I just watch my mirrors, cameras, and try to go with the flow. If I'm in the right lanes, and traffic grinds to a halt, we just sit and wait. We're retired, and clocks mean nothing to us. Been at it for over twenty years w/o an accident that was my fault. Worst city experiences; Harrisburg, Pa, Buffalo, NY, (missed a turn and wound up on a few side streets.) Fayetteville, NC, some of those streets were laid out by drunkards. Many more, but they come to mind. Nice video.

I drove 20 years around NYC taking inside lane with a semi is a straight asshole thing. Do not do that. Go middle, go right but never the inner. Let cars go there. I do give a respect to all trucks, not cutting them etc, when I drive personal vehicle but in a 3 lane road the inner one is not yours period. Nice video and really calm, good driving. One more thing when it says on the bridge: Turcks center lane only it means what it is. You do not go any side lanes as they are tight for a semi and you still took it.... check your videa at 17:20 and please read the sign. I enjoyed to see all the turns the way you took it. I know there is one safe trucker out there.... make more videos!
@BadDriversOfNapa8 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about cruising in the middle lane. It almost always flows the best compared to the right-most lane. In my state, the driver's handbook actually recommends using the middle lane as a cruising lane. But then there are a lot of ignorant people who don't understand the laws that think that keep right laws means the right-most lane and it isn't. Slower traffic can use ANY lane that is to the right of the left-most lane. In other words, only the left-most lane can be considered a "passing lane". The middle lane is fair game. In fact, the keep right laws don't always apply within city limits anyway, depending on the type of expressway or freeway it is.

Been watching trucking videos for about 2 weeks just to get a hint of how the job is plus maneuvering with traffic etc, plus brings back memories traveling with my dad on his trucking route. being in the city can be frustrating enough but if you could drive a semi truck there you could go anywhere. They don’t call NY the jungle for no reason.

I know this vid is old TB. But I watch because I just got my license last week. Driving scares me a bit and shifting when im slowing down screws me up bad. Especially heavy traffic and stop and go etc.. I haul Milk on back roads with lots of hills and curves so its really challenging. I drive slow and take my time even though its slower than normal. Watching you gives me a bit more confidence 👍🏼

Really wish I found this channel before I started driving. Was watching mainly instructional videos, but this is real. I went into NYC first time with my team driver trainer. I had been in Chicago and Kansas City prior to that with my CDL exam trainer, but NYC is a different beast. You have the perfect attitude for driving and I watched the whole video even though I have been to NYC several times on basically the same route. My team driver trainer was a lot like the rushed driver you talk about. She would constantly tell me to "keep speed" and "go along with traffic" even though our exit would be coming up (I dont think she realized it). I was going literally the exact speed limit, but cars were speeding past of course. She was always worried about "speed" lol. I changed trainers when she basically had a panic attack because a cop was standing on the side steps of a pulled over truck and she was worried she was going to clip the cop with her mirror. The truck was well off the road though. It was just an awful situation seeing someone sobbing like that, let alone my trainer. I felt bad (she definitely had issues), but I couldn't team drive with someone like that. There were other odd incidents as well. Thankfully my CDL exam trainer and 2nd team trainer had your and my attitude of I'll do my thing and let everyone else do theirs. I am never late to anything, load doesn't shift, I am far less stressed. Good to know there are other good drivers out there. Stay safe.

I delivered to NYC pretty much every day for 8 months. Growing uo in NYC helped me with tolerating certain things I guess. When crossing the GW stay in the left lane. When going across the 440 Bayonne thing leading into Staten Island I take the middle lane sometimes at night. My trainer was a badass Marine dude so I had to tough it out in one lane during training haha. I did it before though
