Always made it a habit to run 6-7 hrs depending on the area before I take my 30 . Take my 30 finish off my last few hrs . I avoid truck stops unless I need food or to shower . Shut down at a rest area so I can wake up do my PTI then pull straight back onto the interstate repeat . If you not making money at prime company you’re doing something wrong pay-scale up to 49 cpm solo light weight no way you should be broke .

@@edluisrivera3317 it's simple. If you want to make money go with a smaller fleet company. They pay more than the big ones. I was make close to 2k a week after one month of training with my very first company. With in 6 months I was consistently making 2400 a week trucking isn't rocket science. Knowing the ins and outs of the places you go, definitely helps and you will make more money than the person just coming into trucking. With that being said, I do think the pay should be similar across the board because you are all hauling the same stuff, all driving in similar conditions, all dealing with the same bs from shippers, shitty drivers, etc. It should come down to how well you know your routes, how well you manage your clock and how hard you run which determines your pay. Not that the guy that's been driving a few years longer gets 20 cents more than you

Found a local food company that will hire me with no experience making good money. Granted I have to unload the truck but eh🤷🏾♂️ and that’s no cap. It’s 2018 you don’t have to start off at the bottom. My bro with 3 months experience just got hired at waste management, you can make good money there’s no rule to how much money you gone make starting out when you have a shortage of drivers everywhere and I stay in TX. Truckers should be making good money from the start if the industry is as short on drivers as they always say it is. There should be no “paying your dues” in this particular business. Driving is driving, wether you’ve done it 6 months or 20 years.
@lowkeyfiasco6 жыл бұрын
That's bull, man. You start driving at the beginning of summer you still don't even know what driving is all about until you hit winter. Get a few winter's under your belt and then you're actually worth something. Until then, you're just holding a steering wheel. Go down a heavy grade on a switch back in the snow and tell me it's just driving, lol 😂
@rodneygregory27766 жыл бұрын
Palido Fantasmo and the new driver is going down the same switchback. And the new driver is driving in the same winter weather. And the guy with 10 years experience is holding a steering wheel the same way a new driver is. So what’s the difference? If there’s such a shortage of drivers like they always say then they need to pay new drivers comparable money as older drivers, or stop bitching about a 80-90% turnover rate and asking why the industry is in such a need for people.
@rodneygregory27766 жыл бұрын
In other words you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
@lowkeyfiasco6 жыл бұрын
@@rodneygregory2776 if you can't see the difference between a noob going down a steep grade switch back in the dead of winter and a vet doing the same then there's no teaching you. Those conditions are what makes or breaks people in the trucking industry. There's a shortage because most people can't handle that kind of mental strain or the level of resposibility and your attitude about it is what gets a lot of people killed on the road. You honestly think taking a truck with a load down that switch back is the same as taking your Subaru outback? Companies aren't going to waste money on you until they know how you work under pressure. I can't believe this is a surprise to some people. All of this aside, if you're worth your salt, you can make decent money after your first full year, but definitely not before then.
@rodneygregory27766 жыл бұрын
Palido Fantasmo obviously you’re not following what I’m saying. Who said anything about it being the same as going down a switchback in a Subaru? Your comparing apples to oranges. I’m talking about trucks and trucks. Apples to apples. Im talking about the pay should be the same for doing the same job. Is the new driver risking their life any less than the older driver?

So they dont have to raise wages with inflation because its not clear cut when wage scale varies so much. They did a study of trucker pay in the 70s vs now with inflation. they said if you compared starting pay back then to now with inflation starting rookie pay should be about 110k. and this goes for alot of jobs but people so hung up on the oh but im going to make more the next year dont see they never getting ahead. Because the cost of living just keeps going up faster then their pay scale. ya'll fighting with each other when you should be fighting for each other. Why theres no trucking union is beyond me.
