As kids we were all happy because we didn’t know what life was really like. As we grow older we realize how chaotic and laden with suffering life really is. Breakups, deaths, depression, betrayals, aging, dead dreams, etc. These experiences make you want to breakdown and cry but you have to save face so you at least appear happy. Smile like you mean it…

This comment is dedicated to the memory of my Grandad (1934-2016). He lived in Eastbourne with my Granny, who is still alive today, until his death in 2016. Historically, when going to Eastbourne, Dad would usually drive me down. The radio reception as we went through the South Downs (which are full of chalk) was quite poor, so we usually had a CD playing in the car - often an album by The Killers. I don't think there are any albums by The Killers that Dad doesn't have. To this day, I still associate The Killers with East Sussex (the county in England where Eastbourne is located).

Sitting here, eating a sandwich from Carl's Jr and on its box says "Eat Like you mean it." Made me think of this song, couldn't stop thinking about so here I am listening to the killers and suddenly remembering that it's actually quite a sad song. It was my favorite CD and when I look back I realise how much their music meant to me at the time, and now.
