Funny thing she once called me while i was spending the weekend with some girl i dated, she asked "are you with someone, i hear her laughing?" and i replied "yes I am, i'm trying to forget and its hard, I wish things were diffrent" she replied "me too..." a awkward silence between us followed that words, then we wished he best for each other and that was the last time i spoke to her... I imagined the night we broke up in so many diffrent ways i lost count, so many diffrent things I wish i had done, maybe we could still be togheter, idk... A dark and poignant song about growing up. Growing up is one of the hardest things; when we are children life seems to straightforward, we are surrounded by people who love us and want to see us thrive. The world seems full and we are excited by the propest of adulthood. Then adulthood arrives and we lose our innocence, life seems complicated, we struggle, childhood friends move away, there is no longer the routine of school, parents - who once seemed so capable and in charge, age and become weak. We become filled with regrets for dreams that went unfulfilled..... It's tough when you are a young adult. "Oh no no no no no" is one the most powerful lines in this song for me.

“And someone will drive her around, down the same streets that I did”. That one shook me to my core. I had a high school sweetheart that I started dating senior year. We dated all through college and everything was perfect, she was an amazing person. But for some reason the love just went dry, we stopped doing things we used to do like fun dates and adventures. It was taking a toll on both of us and we mutually decided to break up. It was hard for us both, leaving someone who was always there for you for the past five years, your first everything. We hugged, our shirt collars were drenched in tears and she quietly walked away. I never saw her again, but part of my mourns as if I still love her. Maybe I do. The lines of life that are meant to connect always will. All I can do now is try to move on from her and hope that everything works out in her life. Love u gz

Holy heck I love this song so much, and I'm never going to get over this album. Hot Fuss will always be a part of me and I kind of hate it because the whole album reminds me of someone I don't want to think about, but it's still worth the pain, because it's that fucking good.
@thegabster047 жыл бұрын
Phoebe Peterman completely agree and imm on the same boat! reminds me of someone but the music takes me back to a heck of a place that will always be a part of me.

Phoebe Peterman one of the most underrated bands of the 2000. Hot Fuss, Sam’s Town, and Battleborn are AWESOME! Plus they have really good shows and Brandon Flowers is one of the best and underrated frontman all time.

Brandon looks so different now to when back then! This is how I remember him. Also just realised this music video could be about them being ghosts and watching over different families who live in the house that they once lived in and telling them to appreciate the small things like smiling etc. I adore this song and this band they are just amazing!

As much as what other comments have been saying, I've only stumbled upon this song now. Still being fairly young myself, what I personally get from this song is to be genuine in life. You have to smile like you mean it, because we don't know if we get a second chance at this. Everyone has regrets, but it's your choice to focus or to not focus on them, we all make mistakes, and that's more than ok, that's a part of what makes us who we are. Mistakes are a learning experience, so don't be regret or spiteful just because you missed an opportunity, our circumstances make who we end up being. As we get older, it becomes harder and harder to change your habits, so just try to change them while you're young. And the thing is, let's say that we really only do get one chance at this, wouldn't you want to live life as you like? To be genuine about it? That being said, we still have to be smart about decisions and how we go about things. Life is about balance, to be genuine about it, care about it. Also weigh things when you can, if you can. Because people care so much less than you think, since they're busy worrying about themselves. So it's not worth it to do something just for other people to envy you, or to be "better" than them. Smile like you mean it, be genuine about life, and live how you like, just be responsible, just be sensible, just as long as you know we all make mistakes, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, because they help so much with who we become, as long as we can learn from our mistakes and understand our flaws to better ourselves. And as much as we will get hurt, it's very much worth noting to not become spiteful or bitter, as easy as it is. It's easy in a similar way that it's easy to reminisce on the past. However the past is in the past, we need to accept that, and learning about today might help that, amongst losing ourselves in jobs, or hobbies. We're all going to get hurt, but that's inevitable as we are now, and so why not try? Why not try to make the most of what we can of life?

I used to have this song set as the alarm. Everyday I would wake up for school at 6:30 and the first thing I heard was the first line. I think especially for the time I was going through and the nature of growing up, it was fitting. Sounds really convey memory, every time I hear this song it takes me back to drowsily waking up and rushing off to school. Even in my own mind I can’t experience the moment as vividly as I do when I hear this song. All in all it’s a great song, and really embodies what it feels like to grow up, or to feel nostalgia. All in all, 10/10 song.

Something simple such as smiling can have so many different connotations. Smile like you mean it even if life is sad. Smile when you're happy a natural reaction but an act that should be done often. You never know when life can hit you. So enjoy those moments and smile. :)
