There are special keyboards for people with stump limbs and regarding the papers it is most likely just an empty pile for filling requests or stock counting. I used to work at a store like that. Shoppers never get to see how long these papers tend to be at someones desk and its usually just there so its easier for workers to take a paper and start filling it out without waiting on printers or ink.

Like the Spider instigated the entire situation by making a veiled threat to Alan and not answering a simple question that amounted to "Ah, Paper clips? Over there." Take it from me, a guy who works in customer service, you don't immediately blow up on a customer like that. From the way the bossman was talking, it doesn't sound like an uncommon occurrence, his patience is definitely running thin here. And the cherry on top is how the boss helps Alan without a second thought whatsoever. He jumps up from his desk and rushes across the store to help Alan with one thing, while Armzo couldn't even be assed to help a customer while he was literally at the front of the store. Hey, what's the first thing you do when you see an employee in a store and need help? You ask for it.
