Zach's "bad at anatomy but very detailed" style reminds me a lot of Don Rosa's Scrooge McDuck comics. He also "wasn't good" at drawing but he compensated by adding a lot of detail, making the most recognizable and iconic Donald Duck comics to date. Both are great cases of utilizing your strengths to create something original and interesting. I'm really looking forward to what else Zach and Michael comes up with in Smiling Friends. Judging from the pilot, it'll be a future classic for sure!

Honestly I think it wouldn’t look as good if they really couldn’t draw well, I think they’re just choosing to ignore anatomy (at least in Zach‘s case) because it looks funnier that way. The wrinkles and stuff he adds all seem legit in their own logic. And a Donald Duck comic with realistic ducks would be terrifying lmao

If you don't know of Don Rosa's art I recommend you looking him up. Like I said; he's an iconic comic book illustrator and writer. I think comparing him to Zach is a huge amount of praise to both of them.

I didn't know about either artist until doing some research and finding out they started out on Newgrounds and the pilot episode has guest appearance by Tom Fulp. OH, I thought the guy in the fedora that was live action was Corey Spazkid since it kind of looked like him, and he's friends with Zach also did some work in that episode, if I remember correctly.
