Smiling Friends Season 2 is finally here and the season started with a big twist as Adult Swim premiered the episode 1 of the season, "Glimbly Definitive Remastered Enhanced," after indulging in a little April Fools shenanigans by remaking Mr. Frog, Shrimp's Odyssey and Charlie Dies and Doesn't Come Back in different puppet styles such as classic Muppets esque cloth, paper mache and sock puppets! Are some of these episodes better as puppet than 2D animated? And when will season 2 premiere in full? We all all the answers to everything your Smiling Friends loving heart seeks!

On one side i think they had a strict deadline so they hired 3 different studios, one for each episode. On the other hand this way is probably more expensive to hire a single studio for the 3 episodes. Im very happy adult swim has this much faith in smiling friends. The puppets in the mr. frog episode were amazing. Not that the others were bad, just not as good.

I’ll be honest, while this was great I was hoping for something dragon ball related in regards to Toriyama’s passing. I mean an 8 episode marathon of Kai from the beginning on Saturday is fine and all but that anime helped rise Toonami, Cartoon Network, and adult swim to their respective heights they achieved back then along with being the big anime that brought the industry to mainstream. I mean I heard Mexico did a whole weekend of airing the DBZ movies on their airwaves. I was a bit hoping we could see the super movies airing after their original planned prank, but nothing afterwards. Oh well, there’s still tonight and maybe Gokū Day to see what they got, because I know that network wants to do big. And if anything, I’ll make an impassioned plea towards Crunchyroll and Toei to let Cartoon Network air something bigger of dragon ball for Goku Day, because we all know they hold the broadcast rights
