Hiiii boys! OMGEEE! Sooooo crowded for sure! Thank you for this walk. I loved the retro VW bus and Airstream up in Miyashita Park. Hahaha! I was such the roller skater. I was at the rink every single weekend. Hubby was the skateboarder. Brother….shonben yokocho? Is it kusai there? 😮 Dot soup noodles looks like so much fun! What a smart way to order! Please do go back and try. Take care ne. I miss L&L being in Shibuya. Oniisan was there for many years.

So glad that you are feeling better! And thank you also for being open about it. It helps destigmatize these issues. For the past few years, my husband and I have been traveling to the northeast coast of Japan, to the cities and towns that were affected by the 2011 tsunami. It is inspiring to see how people have overcome such a devastating natural disaster and are rebuilding their lives. It also makes us happy to contribute what we can to their local economy by having a few meals there, buying some local crafts etc. People are always welcoming and we love to chat with them as well. Some of the towns we have visited are Arahama, Onagawa, Kesennuma, Rikuzentakata and Minami sanriku. The charming cafe Newsstand Satake in Minamisanriku is a particular favorite that we have returned to. Hope you can travel to some of these places! :-)

Revisiting areas in Tokyo that you both haven't been to in a while sounds great! I look forward to you trying that new noodle shop discovery as well. ✨ Ooooh, and after the noodle shop, if you find a new place, or revisit an old favourite one for a fruity dessert, please do! I like fruity desserts after a good noodle meal, and would like to request your take and recommendation on it from the Shibuya area. 🍉🍎🍓🍒🍑🍊🥭🍋

Hi Shinichi. Would be great if you can explore Futakotamagawa, Kichijoji and Jiyugaoka areas. There are nice ramen spots, local street food and izakayas. I had a brief visit to these areas many years ago and would be nice to see you exploring and trying out the variety of snacks etc.

Loving these walking tour videos as I get to see how much Japan has changed and can plan my next trip in November 🤗 You always give so much information so thank you! I love staying in Akasaka (where I was a resident for 2 years just before the Pandemic) so that feels like home! So I would love to see a walking tour of this area for any hidden gems I may have missed during my short stay there please?😊

Thank you for this great walking video, and your commentaries too. Will definitely be retracing your route if I get to go to Tokyo this year-end. (To answer your question. My favorite area in Tokyo is Odaiba. Followed by Shinjuku)

YES YES, please, want to see the DOT noodle experience, also, not sure if either of you noticed, the TRAIN TRACKS, just after you looked at the real trains, there are tracks, on the floor of the building . 10:50 are they rare used, yet still available? or were there tracks here on previous elevated tracks? or were there tracks here, on the ground level, and these show that? all something an architect might do, to show history, also, seem the fence on the far right, is different color,

Last time I was in Japan I stayed in Shinagawa Seaside. Just a few minutes walk to shopping, subway, lots of convenience stores, restaurants, bars, everything, and not too crowded. From there I could go anywhere in the Tokyo area.

I like the suburbs hahaha the quiet shotengai and such. I always go to happy road connected to Ooyama station, and I love the walk from Chikatetsu Akatsuka station to Hokarigaoka park. If I go to more of the city center I usually go to Ikebukuro as it is closest to where I usually stay. And the shitamachi area has a special place in my heart, as a student I lived a couple of minutes from Yanaka Ginza. I haven't been in Shibuya un ages. At least 10 years. When I first came to Japan 20 years ago I came almost everyday as I went to school there. I used to know the are pretty well but I think now I cannot find my way anymore. Shibuya yokocho looks interesting and during the day not that crowded. If I go to Shinya I would go to the river area. I heard they redid that entirely and that it's supposed to be a nice walk. I was good at inline skates, could do some of the stunts and tricks as well, skateboard I could do a little bit. When I was a teenager skating was very popular here.

Good to hear you are feeling better again! Loved the video, my favourite area in Tokyo was Ikebukuro and then the parks, but I have only seen so little, I need to go back many times :) We stayed near the Asakusabashi station which was a nice area where you could walk along the river :)

I am Japanese. It is said that in response to a request from PARCO in 1973 for the naming of the hilly alley leading to PARCO, the alley was named "Spain hill" by the owner of the Spanish style cafe "Arabika" nearby.

Glad to know you're feeling a lot better after all those anxiety attacks! I walked around Shibuya back in February and wasn't able to get to the Shibuya Sky observatory as tickets were sold out. I did recognize quite a few of those spots you and Satoshi walked around, including that spot by the fence on top of Miyashita Park. I'm guessing that Shibuya will always be ridiculously crowded, even as the original youth culture crowd ages and becomes the office workers in "Bit Valley." Still not one of my top spots to visit when I'm in Tokyo though.

I never really tried skateboards. But skates were my mortal enemy as I have weak ankles thus I cannot skate for long without injury to my ankles and legs. Which is why I was never able to be an ice skater either. I wouldn't be able to walk well for two days after skating of any kind for a few hours.

I don't know if this is feasible but I reckon it'd be cool if you could go into bars and the likes and interact with the locals there as one normally might on a night out. That way you can show the social interaction of 'going out' in Japan.

They've done that in some previous videos! But going out to bars at night is not really the phase of life they're in these days
