I really like your street walks and i follow them on Google Maps / Street View simultaneously which is great fun. "Oh this is the same vending machine Shinichi just passed" or "this looks completely different althought it is the same spot". I love it.

My father and I were in Kyoto in the 1970s, and it's heartening to see how little some of it has changed. When we were there they still were washing out the dyed fabric for kimono in the Kamo River, with long streamers of fabric waving in the current. It was magical.

Wow ! 00:30 The most famous motorbike in the world. 25:01= The Honda Cub. 18:32 colorful balloons temple? 17:35 19:44 Awesome Pagoda. 22:21 Yasaka-no-To Pagoda of the Honkanji Temple. 20:23 Maybe next time we can see a better shot of the rickshaw. 20:52 Reminds me of a friend from the Nitta clan who was into the ceramic/pottery art. I really wondered why his tea cups/bowls were so expensive. 24:56 I guess in a lot of countries, the combi of shopsdownstairs and living quarters upstairs is traditional. Thanks for this vid.

Last year when we went to Kyoto we stayed in THAT neighborhood. We went to that market “happy rhokura” everyday! The food was so inexpensive And we felt like a local. Thank you for being back memories of our Kyoto home (for one week) you walked right by the house we rented :) (and the price was right ). You MUST find the starbucks. It is in an old house. Very traditional. Take off your shoes and have a tea. Or coffee It has to be the coolest starbucks on the planet Maybe in the next video it was right near where you stopped. Thankyou thank you for being back memories for me and my family.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us a tour of beutiful Kyoto! I LOVE the area and would be a dream to be a resident over there. So...ambient and calm. I LOVE the little shop you passed by with the handmade baskets. I would definitely buy one and use it as a handbag!

Thank you so much for this wonderful walking tour on the way to the temple. I was in Japan many, many years ago and travelled to Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and many other small villages. I have loved Asia and on the Japan trip I also went to Taiwan and Hong Kong and stayed for 3 weeks in Hawaii to get used to the US hours. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. This walk makes me want to go back to see all the changes in Japan. By the way, Kyoto was my favorite city by far. Can hardly wait for the next video of the temple.

I loved, loved, loved watching this video with you. We always stay in rental houses in Higashiyama and walk everywhere when we visit Kyoto, so this was so much fun for me. You even stumbled upon a dear little clothing store where we bought summer Yukata once. I believe it's near Kawai Kanjiro's house. Will definitely be watching this video again. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures.

Kyoto is beautiful! Hopefully the local tourist board can figure out a way to promote other areas surrounding kyoto to have people get out and away from the typical spots so the city doesnt become an over-touristed area again. I can imagine the kyoto residents loving the peace and quiet for now, even though businesses are struggling due to the pandemic.

02:53 you're right If you walk or ride a bike in a new city, you will discover so much more. It's a completely different experience. We stayed in the K's hostel and walked from there to all the sights east and south-east of there. Also in Tokyo and Hiroshima we discovered so many places that we would probably never have seen otherwise.

I really enjoyed this walking tour. I love it when you stop and show us what's on offer in the shops. I also loved seeing the residences. I was impressed by the streets themselves, the pavers and stones looked so nice. I hope you'll do more walking tours and show us more shops and things. Oh, and this was the perfect length video. Thank you.

in the last 5 minutes of the video, I saw the pagoda and the road, I got a very good photo out of it since it was in the afternoon and after raining, so no one there (on my first visit, my 2nd visit it was very crowded)

thanks for the tour i like the homes and shops its nice have a great day my friend
I love to see walks even if they are residential areas. It gives us a stroll thru Japan. It’s always interesting. It’s the perfect time for you to visit tourist sites since the pandemic is keeping the crowds down. I remember walking back to my hotel from Nishiki market in Kyoto and came upon some random shops that were wonderful. Kyoto is beautiful and I strongly recommend just walking thru areas off the main streets.

Today is the day I should have been beginning my 7 week visit to Japan so feeling a bit sad watching this 😢😢😢 - I have so many things on my list and thanks to you Shinichi, the colourful temple just got added (Yasaka Koshindo) I have been to Kyomizu Dera twice (cherry blossom and autumn) My plan was to be in the area to check out the pottery shops but it looks like my third visit will have to wait 😢I just rewrote my trip calendar for the same time 2021! At least I can "visit" with you. Trouble is Shinichi, you keep giving me new places to add to my list. By the time I get to Japan I will have to stay for FOURTEEN weeks!

Hi Shinichi, I really enjoyed that walk with you, the only difference is that I wasn't as breathless as you were, in fact going backward at times to what I've observed and break it down. At 4:24 of the video, I saw like a traffic enforcer (or is he) in blue uniform at the corner of a street where it's not a busy road at all and then another one at 11:58. Why is that? 9:07, yes, I agree with you, I too would love to have breakfast there, good vibes. 10:15 I love that basket nice piece of handiwork and at 21:15 yes, those pottery of cups and bowls are divine, and I love the color. I would have bought a set and it's on sale, price not bad! Did you manage to buy? The make of it is like your green favorite cup which I remember in one of your vlog.

The pagoda at Hōkan-ji Temple is a sight to behold. I miss Kyoto quite a bit - it’s such a beautiful city. Though, I think I will avoid visiting it in summertime, like I did last year. Even for this Vegas native, the Kyoto heat is not to be trifled with. 🥵
