Appreciate feedback everyone! We are still playing with format for these. Next time we will put abilities back in and drop the nevercake stuff. Because while it's funny, it's also redundant. Last time we had feedback that abilities were too much, but it seems that more people like it than don't. 🙂

I think the reason why people said to just do the lore stuff is because some Pantheons have ALOT of gods. Like Celtic, and Japanese are among the smaller pantheons. The current smallest Pantheons are Voodoo, Polynesian, and The Old Ones... followed by Babylonian. Those it would be good to do the lore and abilities.

Fun fact: Raijin (or Raiden) has a wolf-like companion formed from electricity, known as Raijū, meaning "thunder beast," which was the ancient explanation for lightning strikes, known as "the claws of Raiju"... and is the inspiration for my username 👍🏽⚡

Danzaburou is no mere racoon! He's a Tanuki, mischievous creatures in Japananese Myths, although I wish I knew more about them, Tanuki are often portrayed as mythological beings capable of disguising small leaves into anything, which you saw when Kuzenbo was scammed out of some sake that even gods would fight over.

​@@QtAsteriwell depending on the story, it is not really the soul they want to consume but rather the liver they want. but to reach the liver from the anus they need to remove the shirikodama first. the shirikodama is a small ball which is inside the anus and it contains the soul. to make it even weirder, in some stories they reach up through the anus to remove it, but in other stories they "suck" it out of the anus. which is probably even weirder. there is also a reference in sekiro with the headless ghosts. they have a grab attack where they reach up inside the characters rear end and extract a hand sized ball. but yeah in general japanese mythology is very weird.

@@sakrefunholy The Loathsome Dung Eater (from Elden Ring) is also a reference to this. When you find the bodies of corpses he's defiled with the seedbed curse, their groin and rear is covered by a cloth absolutely drenched in blood. Making it pretty obvious what he's done.

I would love for you to look at the abilities next time and cut out the nevercake if it’s a time thing. The ability overview is the coolest part and gives you an insight into their lore/personality as the devs base it all on the research they have done on the Gods! :) love it either way

@@thatsmuggamer Hirezz glossed over most of the most unsavory parts of their characters' bio so Smite remains T, I guess, like how Zeus and Hera are also siblings or Hera is an extreme Yandere or how gross Cú Chulainn's "warp spams" actually are or Hel doesn't have a Jekyll/Hyde split personalities, but just half of her body is rotten and speaking of rotten, Izanami should look like an corpse, not like discount Sadako and the list goes on

Fun fact: The tanuki (The raccoon guy) is said to be extremely "well-endowed", if you know what I mean. I like how Smite gave him two pouches hanging from his belt to represent that without actually giving him a pair of you-know-what.

Izanami (zombie lady) is also the mother of Susanoo (storm guy who killed the 8 headed snake), Amaterasu (sun goddess) and Tsukuyomi (the moon god). Fun(ish) fact, Tsykuyomi is both Amaterasu's brother and husband (mythology is weird)

When I played Smite I used Izanami, Amaterasu, and sometimes Raijin. I'm glad you decided to drop the nevercake stuff and doing the abilities. Maybe you can still watch and record the nevercake stuff while you're watching these and just edit them out into their own video? So you'd have a "Japanese Gods Nevercake edition" or something? Cause like you said, they're redundant but they are still funny and I'm sure tons of people out there like them and would watch the nevercake video as well. And if you record it while you're doing the God reveals then you'll still have all the God info still fresh. Here's to more Pantheons!!!

So I only just noticed this for the first time during the reaction but Danzaburou has a pair of sacks hanging from the front of his belt and I facepalmed at the joke. To oversimplify, in the same way fox spirits are known for their tails in folklore, for tanuki... it's their testes. More specifically the scrotum. I am not making that up. Like traditional statues and other depictions of tanuki make sure to include the detail of their marbles rather prominently. So of course they don't actually show his junk in a game like Smite... but he DOES have TWO sacks hanging in front. Slick one, guys. :D

They did go with the consolidated PG version of the story for Amaterasu. In one version of the myth, Uzume was talked into luring Amaterasu out of the cave... with a striptease.

Hachiman is essentially a samurai god, wielding katana and yumi in battle, and wearing an oni (demon) mask with his helmet. He's also one of the better hunters in Smite. Amaterasu was a dominant solo laner in Season 7, but has since fallen off in favor of other warriors. Raijin has an amazing Donkey Kong skin in-game, beating his drums with bananas lol. He was one of the top mages in Season 7. Susano is a solid jungle pick, in particular one of Panitom's top gods (jungler for my SPL team, the Atlantis Leviathans), and he's got a Zuko skin from the Avatar battle pass :P Izanami is a great early pressure pick for duo lane, as she can waveclear VERY quickly, but she's vulnerable due to having to stand close to the wave to do so, since her kama sickles strike through minions. Kuzenbo and the kappa are the inspiration for Mario's 'koopa' enemies. Kuzenbo was also very strong in Season 7, and is really, really annoying to deal with lol Tanuki are the Japanese name for Red Pandas, and were viewed as mischievous spirits in folklore. The gourds that Hi-Rez have dangling from his belt are meant as a safe for work substitute for the giant balls that Tanuki spirits, especially Danzaburou, was supposed to have :P Tsukuyomi was STUPID overpowered when he was released, to the point where the devs had to hit him with the nerf bat repeatedly to make him actually balanced :P His tonfa are called Shingetsu (crescent moon), and Mangetsu (full moon), and he can connect them via a chain to make a kusarigama. He has been called the ultraweeb god by most of the players lol.

Susanoo is one of the strongest gods in Japanese Mythology. He controls both the storms, so in essence he controls both thunder and lightning, as opposed to Raijin and Fujin's control over one. He also guards the gate to the underworld, which is the domain of Izanami, under the orders of Izanagi, who is also father to both Amaterasu and Susanoo. Izanagi is like the king of the gods in Japanese mythology.

If you compare to, say, Nevercake's Greek or Roman pantheon it is rather obvious, when he knows what he is talking about and when he has zero idea, but he is obligated to make video. Also, Izanami's origin is basically Orpheus and Euridice, but Orpheus screwed because he was too nervous and Izanagi was just coward and, frankly speaking, a dick. Which is amusing common theme of a lot of mythologies Creator gods for some reason.
