So Skadis lore was a little altered for Smites rating of course, but in the most common depiction, which you can even find a collectible diary in AC Vahalla about it. Skadi wanted to marry Baldur of the gods she was offered, but she wasn't blindfolded. In lore she could only see their feet and assuming Bladur had the most beautiful feet of the gods picked Njord is usually mentioned as a sea god. Idk where the summer thing came in, but whatever. Skadi then gave the condition that she would only stay of the gods could make her laugh. So Loki tied his nutsack to a goat so that everytime the goat did anything it would pull on his ballzinis and he'd scream. Making Skadi laugh. Norse mythology is built different.

The devs like to give each character a bunch of jokes or taunts and one of jormungandr's jokes is he says "the world ends when I bite my own tail, I cannot even find the blasted thing" 😂

I really like what Smite did with Hel. In the original Norse mythology, Hel is described as the "two-faced goddess", but in the original myth, this description was quite literal. Half of Hel's face was a beautiful woman, whereas the other half was the decaying CORPSE of a beautiful woman. But what Smite has done, is taken "two-faced" to mean that Hel has split-personality disorder, and I think that's a very cool way of viewing her character.

I think that guy you noticed isn't a spider; he's one of the Egyptian Gods, Khepri. He's actually a scarab beetle and he's one of the nicest characters in the game. For the most part God of War either has some surprisingly faithful adaptations of the gods provided you accept some different writing (Loki and Thor being prime examples; Loki in the myths definitely wasn't the son of a Greek God but in GoW this is probably one of the most authentic depictions in many ways); Heimdal being much more unpleasant there than he's usually depicted being a bit of an outlier.

Fafnir is actually one of the most famous Dragons in all of mythology. In fact, he and the nameless Dragon from the epic poem Beowulf (who is the one character from mythology I want added to Smite more than anyone else) were the two Dragons that served as the inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien's Dragon, Smaug.

Norse Pantheon is one of my favorite in Smite, I love all of them very much. When I was little my dad bought me a book about Norse Mythology (It was more funny than serious and the stories were presented in a hilarious manner), and soon Norse Mythology became my 2nd favorite mythology (1st is Japanese). I was very excited when Smite released, as I could play as the characters I read in that book so many years ago.

So, Ratatoskr's abilities and acorns have changed over time, if that matters. With the next batch of gods, there will be some differences because at one point in time, Odin, Freya, and Loki had completely different kits and abilities, so again, looking at abilities that might change some things, Loki and Odin have also had changes in their appearances over time so a little caution there. In fact, I don't see an Odin reveal on the playlist and for Loki, you will want to choose his remodel/rework. Overall, not too bad as I do like how you are enjoying the smite gods and will be curious about the ones you missed due to them not being out when you drafted (ix chel), not having a god reveal (anubis), or being from other pantheons (such as the voodoo and slavic). I always enjoy seeing these videos as it is nice to see non smite players react to what is in the game

I know it's always a mistake to comment before watching the full video but I just have to say that I don't follow smite stuff, I played some in early beta a long time ago but this is absolutely gonna be interesting to see as someone who is actually believer in norse paganism ^_^

Something to keep in mind about the Norse mythology is that it is not the only mythology among the Nordics. There is also the less known Finnish mythology of Kalevala, which did have a heavy influence in JRR Tolkien's work for example. There's not a lot of media that includes deities from Kalevala though, but it's not hard to see why. Majority of our knowledge regarding the Finnic paganism was lost during the Northern Crusades. It is difficult to integrate characters from lore that we simply don't have a lot of information of.
