Im an atheist from Brazil, but I love mythologies, and Hinduism is one of my favorites, and of course Shiva is the one I admire the most, althought not being a believer. And I was so eager to see Shiva in this game, and I was so happy to see how spot on the devs managed to depic the great Shiva, in both the most respectable way possible and also in the best representation possible. @@smilehaver No, nothing like that, although I have heard that of those from the Indian community did had an issue with that (I mean he is one of their primary gods so its understandable) But the reason for the ptsd he's mentioning it's because (Spoiler warning): He is one of the most difficult boss in the game you fight at around the late game (like around lvl 90+), he's capable of one shoting you, healing himself, debuffing your entire party and summoning high lvl enemies at his side just to add salt to injury.

@@kooochie I think the third eye would be a good relic instead, acting like a combination of Ra’s and Janus’s ults. It’s be like a charging, hyper precise, instantaneous moving, map crossing beam of power that ignites the ground it passes over to deal a true damage blow to enemy gods current health, crippling them on direct contact. Like a bulked up but harder to use sunder. One branching upgrade could make a massive explosion on impact that stuns and blinds enemy gods directly hit (along with a deafening roar for anyone with headphones) and damages and trembles enemy gods in a 60 meter radius, while leaving a blazing wasteland in the blast zone that deals low but persistent damage in its wake until it expires. Think like a combustion bender from the _Avatar_ cartoons. The other upgrade makes the beam ignore walls and other obstructions utterly and it marks all enemy gods hit. Marked enemies are revealed for a duration (even when stealthed), you and allies move faster in the direction of marked enemies, and killing them while revealed recharges ability and relic cooldowns by a few seconds, while this upgrade itself already has a faster recharge and or an extra charge compared its more blatantly destructive counterpart.

Fun fact, in Hindu mythology, Ganesha is Shiva's son. Parvati is Ganesha's mother and Shiva's wife. One day, Parvati asked Ganesh to guard her while she was taking a bath. Shiva was out doing stuff and came back to parvati to see her but Ganesha was in the way and wouldn't let him through to see Parvati. In a fit of rage, Shiva cut Ganesha's head off. This made parvati very angry and upset so Shiva went out and obtained the head of an elephant and put it on Ganesh. That's why Ganesha has an Elephant head. I believe there are other interpretations too (This is what I've heard in KZbin videos and websites about this Hindu lore, if I got any of this lore wrong than excuse my ignorance and feel free to correct me.)

Let me add one more thing.. ganesh is son of shiva and parathi, but there is one more thing u don't know, he is not the biological son . shiva didn't even know ganesh was his son before he cut ganesh head. The reality is Ganesh was born by parathi devi herself , devi use chandana( sandle powder her body before bath and making a idol of boy with this powder it contains her sweat also then this idol become a human boy that is ganesh. Then she said to ganesh she is going for a bath never let anyone into Kailsah (Home), that time shiva and his bhooth gana came there , shiva try to get in his home but ganesh stop him and make a counter attack. He has a great design. I actually don't like the passive on him, the rest of the abilities are great. To me that passive seems like it would have been better on a stance-switcher where you have more control on the added effects rather than having a gauge that you have to manage and possible lose any advantage mid fight. Its not bad but it seems more geared toward upper levels of play.

​@@Galahime His kit is already a little OP even without the added effects from the passive. He has an area Vortex, cone damage with Knock-up potential, and a Double Dash with Damage mitigations. I don't see him becoming a full stance-switcher(maybe do something like Achilles) but I could see him get a different passive and some of the added effects being just standard part of the ability. That passive just seems like something you should have more control over and not have to worry about managing all the time.

But at the same time I think if they really wanted him to be a healer type they'd have made him more like Hel, so I think this is there way of nerfing his ally support. I do think he's cool though and the fact they made him more aggro makes sense he'd be a warrior but he leans pretty heavily towards guardian too me which is a lil scary especially with the current meta being so hybridized. Who knows maybe its easier to manage than we think

@@xKyanite An issue is if you have a god that only top-tier players can play like Yemoja, Persephone, or Freya. You get to the point where they are impossible to balance: either they are overpowered or utterly worthless with little in-between. I do agree that there needs some variance in skill level with gods but having ones that only work at the highest level is a bad design. Shiva overall is kind of a bridge, Most of his skills are easy to learn having a low skill floor but that passive gives him a high ceiling. He will be easy to play but hard to master, which is not a bad design.

@@carryeveryday910 Yeah, I think they nailed the design and his abilities. Throughout our religion, he is known for being gentle most of the time and doing the dance of creation. However, he is unstoppable and relentless if he gets angry. Also does the dance of destruction (Ananda Tandava). One major belief is that everything in existence gets wiped once he opens his third eye in that form. Just some lore I guess lol. The only thing I think could have been different is his 4 arms. Since all out gods and goddesses are believed to have multiples arms. But they show themselves only in humanoid forms with 2 arms most of the times. So maybe only when he does his abilities or ult, I suppose they could superimpose 2 arms behind him instead of them muscularly grown out of his body. Coincidentally, yesterday was ShivRatri, the day Shiva marries Parvati. Also known as Night of Lord Shiva.

I am a Hindu and Shiva worshiper in real life. I do not mind this game. Lord Shiva is beautiful and kind. So neutral that in Hindu epics he is known to give boons or wishes even to those who we can consider bad. Because all are his children. Just as a reference, in the Scriptures and Hinduism , Shiva's Rudra Tandava can destroy the sun , moon and can combine the time and energy from different multiverses and 'Lokas" and can bring them to a singularity, black hole!
