Thanks for the history lesson. Can’t wait to see it in action. You must have quite the collection of gun safes too. 👋🏼😎

The trigger/hammer system is similar to the HK LEM setup. The 90s was wild haha

Very cool pistol! There are a few 3rd gen S&W .40 guns out there that are agency marked from the factory. California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Alaska State Toopers come to mind. The Brinks 4046 would be an awesome addition. I've heard of them but never seen one before watching your video! I had a 3953 and still have a 5946 with the same DAO trigger. Both 9mm. The rest of my 3rd gen S&W autos are traditional double/single action decockers. So yes, having something a bit different is a good thing. Thanks for the vid.

My "Slick Willy" era DAO Compact in .40S&W is a favorite CCW of mine. Despite its age the damn thing just keeps working. I own a 9mm pistol, but I consider it a backup to the superior .40S&W.

Being a Brinks gun, it could possibly have a heavier trigger spring. Many of these security companies require heavier triggers.
@crankygunreviews Жыл бұрын
Oh it's heavy- feels like 12 or 13 pounds. I think they did that because the lack of safety and being double action only.

Hey great video thank you. I like 40, my favorite round. Full size steel gun 40 Smith & Wesson for me is the way to go. Don’t get me wrong nine is a blast at the range but 40 smith and Wesson for defense I just think can’t be beat. Plus P extreme penetrator‘s are great for the woods and also defeat 3a body armor. Sidenote 40 was the last to disappear during the pandemic and the price really didn’t raise that much.
@crankygunreviews2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the price of 40 right now is cheaper than 45. Still a lot more than 9mm though..

The weight of that firearm should make the recoil super manageable. Probably shoots like a 9mm. Very nice choice Sir!

It shoots great. The heavy gun does help for sure.

I had one years ago 2008 mine was completely stainless steel trigger and all I bought from a law enforcement store that would sell to the public it was in the box like it was never issued I sold it when my father died to help pay for the funeral it was a great shooter I could hit anything I wanted to with it.

4006 only came out in the early 90's. .40 S&W was only invented then. It was supposed to be the first .40, but Glock debuted the 22 a few weeks before.

Yep, I remember reading about that

The .40 S&W didn't come out of development until about 1990 or 91. The 4006 mags were, therefore, likely a development of the older 59 series mags. Because one of the big selling points of .40 S&W back then? Was that it could be shoehorned into a 9mm sized platform. Something that proved to be somewhat erroneous down the road because the 40 S&W operates at a higher pressure than 9 mm. Metal framed guns like the 4006 series and other metal framed, 9mm sized pistol designs that were built kind of large for caliber? Could take the extra stresses .40 S&W produced decently. But "plastic fantastic" guns like Glocks? Ended up needing some redesign in order to better hold up. Glock sort of accomplished this with their Gen 3 series .40 cal guns. But by then? The .40 S&W's rep had been tarnished, and the F.B.I began readopting 9mm because they could get "good enough" for cheaper Federal dollars and were selling other PD outfits into foolishly doing the same. Leading by "example" being what it sometimes is and all... And as we all know? Where the F.B.I. and PD's go? The firearms community will often stupidly follow. Which is probably one reason why .38 Special ammo and revolvers became as common and popular as they used to be. Usually outselling other, better, and more powerful, handgun and cartridge combinations, all the way up until police began adopting semi-autos and fazing out their revolvers in the late 80's to 1990's.

The safety is the LONG and HEAVY trigger pull. It does not simply go off with an accidental touch of the trigger, you really have to squeeze it.
