A Ruger Charger 22 with a folding pistol brace would be a good comparison in this lineup. I would take a non takedown version with a folder and a small prism optic. Fits in a pack and doesn't need to be assembled. Takedown version if you are using a suppressor. Or a Tippmann bugout version.

The badger is a single shot so probably the reliability is greatest. The Ruger ought to be second on that if they are still as reliable as the past but misfeeds etc. can happen with any 22 semi. The floaty gun well I have a Charter arms. Not super reliable. First you have to pick the best magazine for feeding from several. But if it jams the bunny might stay till you can clear it and make meat. If you needed it to fight an adversary last ditch you might lose. Or it floats but you might be sunk.

I was team 10/22 before they ever even created the take down… But after shooting a 22lr target pistol 🤔🤔🤔 I’m not going to name a particular brand but a 22lr target pistol with a couple of 10 round mags a box of 50 rounds in a dry bag 👍👍 You could make an argument about 200 yards but 🤷🏻♂️ what are you shooting at 200 yards with iron sights and let’s not forget the wind 🌬️ I know you can shoot twice that far with the 10/22 but it better be a calm day regardless of your level of confidence in your ability 👍 This is just the conclusion that I came to when I realized the main point is small game and for me 100 yards is all I can accurately identify my target at any more without some sort of assistive device. I think the 22lr target pistol has earned a place in the survival discussion… 👍🏕️👍
@crankygunreviews11 сағат бұрын
Yeah I have a S&W victory 22 or a Ruger Mark II taller both would fit that bill. That’s a good argument as well- I didn’t think to add pistols to the mix… I think a budget 22 revolver with decent sights and a good barrel would be viable too- Charter Arms Target Pathfinder, older H&R or something like that. Of course a model 617, or SP101 would work as well

I recently purchased the Ruger rim fire go wild 22 magnum. After I got it out of the box and started trying to get the scope on I noticed the barrel was hard to one side of the stock and looking from the safety, the whole gun was out of line the safety was stright the receiver was crooked as hell the bolt shroud was not linning up with any of it the gun looked rolled in the stock. Needless to say it’s back at my dealers shop waiting to hear from Ruger. If they will reimburse us I’m ordering a tikka in 17 as I have another 22 magnum. Not pleased

I have a Henry Survival rifle, a Marlin Papoose and a 10-22 takedown. The Papoose is a great choice because it is inherently accurate, more so for me because I put XS sights on it.. one hole at 30 yards. It has a last round hold open and it has a carry bag that makes it float and I have 25 round magazines for it. My 10-22 takedown as stock wasn't a good survival gun because of the weight and it wasn't as accurate as my Papoose. I put a BX trigger into it, A Volquartsen carbon fiber barrel on it and a Backpacker stock. Because there are no iron sights with the Volquartsen barrel, I put a red dot on it. So now I have a 900 dollar survival .22 that I am afraid to damage or lose. It's about as accurate as my Papoose and only slightly heavier. The Henry is a distant 3rd place. The Little Badger is intriguing, if it were made in .22 magnum it would be even more interesting. The absolute reliability of a break open single shot is a huge plus.

I don't own any of these models you showed but I'll throw my 2 cents in. If I were wanting one of these to use as a true "keep me alive until I get back to civilization" type of rifle I would go with that Little Badger. The design is just so simple and straight forward you can't really mess it up. The most simple tools are often the most reliable. The Henry is nice but kinda quirky looking, almost gimmicky. The 10/22 is the best rifle but how much weight and storage area are you willing to use up? Depends on the circumstances I guess. Happy NY.
