I had the BG 1.0 and ended up selling it because of the plastic magazine release. I normally carry in a dedicated pocket holster made specifically for the firearm I am carrying. I found that the magazine release button would not securely hold the magazine in place and it was constantly coming out. I dismissed the 2.0 when I first heard of it for this reason. When I learned S&W had changed the design of the magazine release, I decided to take a chance. So far I love everything about it except the front sight. (An easy fix as lots of options will be available in the coming months) 400+ flawless rounds through it so far. Various types of ammo (FMJ, FMJ flat nose, several types of JHP) S&W really hit a home run with this one.

Great review! Enjoying the channel. I was excited to hear about the release of this 2.0 as I absolutely loathe the 1.0. Is this one MA compliant? Why wouldn’t Smith offer a flush fit 10 round mag?
@crankygunreviews3 ай бұрын
@@Bonham1911 yes it is Ma complain with blocked mags, I think Ma dealers bought whatever they could get, and modded the mags to make them legal before the ban goes into effect October 23rd. You may get two 10 round mags, one ten and one 12 blocked to ten, or two twelves blocked to ten depending on which shop you find them at. Try four season in Woburn first

I have 590 through the BG 2.0 no issues and love the way it Shoots. I’ve been carrying the BG 2.0 since I got it but here in Michigan it’s starting to cool down so I’ll be switching back to my P365x 9mm.. But S&W got it Right with the BG 2.0

I've not shot the original but I would wager the 2.0 is far better at range. People say it doesn't matter because it's a "get off me gun," but I will always reference the IN mall incident a couple years ago where the bad guy was engauged and stopped from 40 yards away with a small carry gun. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! I hate that my LCP Max in my hands is only good to about 30 yards on such a target, which is why the BG 2.0 is replacing mine because I am confident in it to at least 50 yards...

@@BuckeyeBallistics no one should say a get off me gun can’t also be good, accurate, and fun to shoot… also, you need to practice with what you carry, know what ammo it functions with, and become proficient even beyond belly gun distance. The new 2.0 shoots good , my buddy picked one up lately, and his dad has a original with the laser . They both shoot good , the newer one fits my hands better though. I liked the double action trigger of the original. I saw the original one was on sale around labor day as well as a ruger lcp maxx. I've noticed the maxx isn't the most accurate

I have and enjoy the Bodyguard 1.0. It has never let me down when practicing. I love that thing. Most you tube people want to hack on the trigger, but they just don't understand it. That's the problem. The general public has "Herd Mentality" and will just parrot what they say. I'm a big revolver fan, so that why I like it. However...I'll repeat here... The S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is THE BEST DESIGNED and MANUFACTURED high capacity micro-subcompact 380 in the last 40 plus years. Ruger needs to just stop making the LCP Max all together, and I like Ruger products a lot! Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 for the win!!! You can also keep the Sig 365. The 365 is very nice, but over priced and over rated. I have the 365 and 365X. I enjoy them both. The one I do grab when leaving the door is a Ruger LCR snubby in 22LR, or one of the LCR in 22 Mag, or 327 Federal. I have two Bodyguard 2,0's One with an external safety and one without. Love them both. Both run perfectly. 600 round through one. 400 rounds through the other. Once again, I'll take the Ruger LCR hammer-less revolver every single time (first choice) and the Bodyguard 2.0 or 1.0 as a second choice. On a side note, in my opinion, you don't need optics, or a light on a carry pistol. That's just silly. I get a laugh out of that. Especially with appendix carry. How do you take a piss with that set up? I say practice point shooting and up close scenarios (less than 7 feet). At least that's what I do. Remember that ALL your fine motor controls are out the window in situations like that. Your hands become oven mitts. The simpler the better. Enjoy the day.

Thanks for the video. IMO, they ruined it. They ruined it by attempting to "fix" problems that don't exist. There is no way I would put a striker fired handgun in my pocket. And if I can conceal a holstered handgun, why would I choose a .380? For that matter, I won't _carry_ a striker fired gun in any manner. I carry ONLY DA/SA or DAO (preferably) _hammer fired_ handguns for self defense. The Bodyguard (my current pocket carry gun, when I pocket carry) was PERFECT as it was, in size weight AND trigger pull for close range self defense. The Bodyguard replaced several other small .380s I carried when going for maximum concealment, such as my Walther PPKs and Mauser HSc. It is lighter, smaller (and cheaper) than either of those and has a much more durable finish. I rarely carry the Walther or Mauser anymore. They are nearly as big and heavy as a lot of 9mms, so why not carry the more powerful handgun? The other guns in my normal carry rotation are a S&W Model 3914 DAO, (most often carried) S&W Model 642 and the Bodyguard. The Bodyguard is my "always be armed" gun. It is for "inhospitable" carry environments.

I like striker fired with a safety myself. SR9c
@garyK.45ACP3 ай бұрын
@@guaporeturns9472 I don't want _any_ manual safety on a defensive handgun. A DA hammer fired system does not need any. Hammer drop only (such as my SIG P228) or DAO (even better) It works exactly like a DA revolver. DA revolvers do not have manual safeties. Pull the trigger to fire, stop pulling the trigger to stop firing. I carried DA revolvers as duty handguns for 15 years before switching to an autoloader, and I have stayed with DA/SA or (preferably) DAO hammer fired for defensive firearms ever since. I won't carry a striker fired gun, safety or no safety.

@@garyK.45ACP well your opinions and mine differ greatly. They didn’t fix anything on the 1.0, they made an entirely new gun. I’ll still carry my 1.0, but this bodyguard is in another league. I agree the bodyguard 1.0 is a great carry gun, many people hate them, I still think it is great. I rotate my carry guns, typically carry appendix or 3:30 always IwB. I rarely pocket carry, and when I do it’s usually the bodyguard 1.0. However, I fee the safety on this 2.0 is far stiff enough that I fee safe carrying it loaded, safety on in my pocket. When I carry appendix it’s usually a P365, some J frame or charter arms revolver, or like a shield 1.0 (with no manual safety). I carry a large variety of guns at 3:30 when the mood strikes.

@@garyK.45ACP Something Paul Harrel said that stuck with me- you have to feel good about the gun you carry, a .25 auto may make you feel good because you know it's reliable, you can shoot it well, and more importantly you feel comfortable carrying it. That's far more important than what someone tells you is a better gun. Having a gun that you are comfortable carrying, that you know will go bang when you pull the trigger, that gets you to Adhere with the program compliance of carrying a gun, is more important that what you or I or anyone else think is a better gun. I really appreciate your conversation Gary.
