I have a S&W 40 and it has a really heavy trigger. I saw this video, so I ordered the spring kit at MCARBO. Disassembling and changing the springs was easy, but I had some difficulties reassembling the trigger in position. So I had a second look at the video and it took only five minutes to align the holes and replace the pin. I spent two hours (wasted time) doing my way. Now it's smooth and easy. I feel well, but I am 77 years old and I know a lot of my strengths are gone. Thanks a lot for this video.

Gotta tell you, lining up everything in order to insert the trigger hinge pin was extremely difficult. I had to stop working and soak my bruised fingers in ice water several times. It took hours. In the end, wiggling the pin in using pliers finally got the job done. Whew! Trigger seems nice now though. Now I know which parts I will NOT be disassembling when I clean my SD40 VE!

I installed this a spring kit in an SD40VE and it is a new gun. Highly recommended upgrade. As a side note the trigger that everyone hates, myself included, that is stock with the hinge in it is actually just fine with the proper springs and the travel length is reduced. You don't have squeeze hard to get that trigger to fire. Very very happy with the results.

I have been researching videos on changing springs on my SD40, and I have to say, out of like 8 to 9 videos I have watched so far, this is the best!!!!!! All the other videos make you feel as if you can't do this upgrade yourself, like you have to take it to a gun smith, and or you need to be a Doctor/Rocket scientist to do this upgrade!!!!! Straight forward, simple explanation of the processes, and clear video throughout!!! Thank you!!

I just finished installing the trigger spring kit into my SD40VE and must admit that: 1. It was easier than I expected (minor hiccups with the trigger pin, but that's on me). 2. Every single step, followed word by word, gives you perfect results. 3. Do not have a way to measure, but the feeling is amazing. Due to COVID-19 limitations in my country, I cannot get to the range to test with live ammo, but my Tipton Snap Caps are surely loving the new set. @someguy54444 жыл бұрын
But a Glock is only 550 brand new, 400 cheaper seems like a stretch..maybe 200 at most unless your going to a shop and announcing that you have never bought a pistol and will pay whatever 😂
@JG-dx1ud4 жыл бұрын
@@someguy5444 On the contrary I walked into a store and announced that I have purchased many pistols and would not pay more than $200 for this SD-40. I left with it for $200 plus applicable taxes. Considering the Glock MSRP plus store markups I’d say that rounds out to about $600 wouldn’t you agree? And that brings us full circle to the fact that my SD-40 was $400 dollars cheaper than a comparable Glock and so far (after improvements) just as capable. Thanks for playing

I would have to say, that was a very good demonstration of how to replace the trigger striker and trigger return spring. I almost think I could do the same repair but, in reality, I am not as confident to do such a job like that. I am just a newcomer to pistols and I first have to learn how to do the basic cleaning of the weapon.
@MichaelLivingston-me4 жыл бұрын
Installed this evening. Here's what I noticed. Trigger pull felt lighter, not by a large amount, but noticeable. The real issues it answered, smoother pull, and a predictable trigger break & release. Every trigger pull feels the same with a predictable quick release. I'm going to the range to test it. I'm confident I will be able to achieve consistent shot placement. I think this kit is definitely worth buying if you own this model.

@williamhavens4714 жыл бұрын
Can't say my install went as smooth as the video! I tweaked the trigger return spring bad enough that I didn't want to use it. Mcarbo was able to get me another spring since I had already purchased the kit. Cost was a few bucks, cost more to ship the damn thing. The assembly tool was too loose and fell out every friggin time i tilted the frame. Needs to be tighter so it stays in place. Since then I've added an Apex trigger. With the sear removed I was easily able to align the trigger assy, locking block and slide lock up in about 30 seconds without the "tool that's supposed to make it easy". Love the SD9VE! Shoots similar to my G22 & G19. My wife likes it better than the G19 and it is now her gun. She says it looks prettier than the glock. The kit does what it's supposed to do, the pull is lighter and after polishing the trigger bar and sear linkage it's smooth with a crisp reset.

So I didn’t actually have the same trigger kit as the one in this video, I had the Apex brand trigger kit, which doesn’t include that small assembly tool. What I suggest if you don’t have it, is take a plastic straw from a fast food drink or whatever, and cut it down to the width of the trigger so it’s flush on both sides, and then cut along the inside of the straw piece so you can curl it into shape. Worked perfectly for me and saved me a lot of time, just make sure that once you have the roll pin in place back in the frame, look for scraps of the straw bits inside the frame and make sure it’s all out. Might be a bit messy, but it worked great for me.
