Very good. We have the same system. My recent situation saw the vacuum gauge quickly reach 10 and the vacuum pump kicked out. After the vacuum pump kicks out, the vacuum on the gauge drops instantly to zero. And when it reaches zero the vacuum pump starts again and the cycle just keeps repeating itself. I suspect the vacuum path is plugged somewhere but what causes the gauge to drop from 10 to 0 in a split second?

If the vacuum pump is kicking out, that means the pump is primed enough so that the level sensor that looks like a fork is getting a signal. I would check the chamber that the sight glass goes into for any obstructions from the main chamber that is giving it a false primed indication. Second, I would look for a leak/break in the line that goes the the gauge. Really hard to say without being there! The gauge gets it's reading some the main pump housing, so it's reading vacuum in there, then it's being lost. Maybe even a plug in the main suction line coming from the wetwell?

Very true! We have an extremely low risk of needles at this location but you are 100% correct.

Will using grease on the gasket create a chance for leakage?
