I remember these from the 70's. They were styled to look like my S&W model 41 which is by far the most accurate 22 pistol I've ever owned . They were pretty expensive back then. That power is impressive for a 1970's design! That's very close to the same velocity as a Crossman pneumatic 1322 in 22 cal. I'd love to have one for a mate to my S&W Model 41

Impressive for a co2 pistol. Too bad they are not produced today, with maybe an upgraded version with a rifled barrel, Pic rail, easily adjustable trigger, and a moderator thread. Yes, I know there are co2 pistols with some or all those features, but not the power. Plus they appear to be nice looking guns.

I bought a very late production 79G off Ebay at the beginning of last year, and it cost me a whopping $350. Thankfully it was in excellent condition, in the original box with the sales receipt. Very likely made in '78, but was purchased by the original owner in 1981. I love mine, but it's a bit pellet picky. I think it likes the H&N hammer, but I know it can't hit the broad side of a barn with the Crosman pellets I normally buy. I assumed the 79g in 177 would be the better choice, but I found out before too long that the 78g in .22 is more versatile and less pellet picky. I don't have a chrony ( looking to get one soon ) but mine sure seems to have some decent power for sure. My 1981 Sheridan E pistol hits with much more of a thump and is quite a more compact gun, but that's just an issue of pellet weight really. I was going to buy some vernon Austin custom grips for mine since the acetate plastic is starting to get that smelly white powdery surface on the inside ( think old Craftsman and Vacco screwdrivers ) but he had just retired from making grips and I was just a day too late on buying the last pair he had in his Ebay store.

Those are REALLY NICE pistols! Makes you wonder why S&W quit making them & sold off the design? I live in Sweden, I've never seen one of those before. But I have a somewhat similar CO2 pistol, in the sense that it is difficult to understand why they quit making the Röhm Twinmaster Trainer. Like your S&W, it also has "semi-competition" accuracy/performance. But somehow, the market doesn't seem to quite like the medium prized & semi competition performance. About the power, I think Umarex and the makers have found, that in the end, the market puts shot count over power. But having power adjustment, like on these S&W, will let you have some choice?! If you get 30 shots with that maxed out power setting on the .22, like you sayed, I think that's great for some power-plinking! I think these S&W produce pretty much the theoretically achieavable maximum power, given the caliber, barrel length and CO2. As a grown up, the cost of CO2 capsules isn't really a consideration. It's still silly cheap, even compared to .22LR. (Which you normally can't shoot in your garden anyway.) I usually spend way more on the beer & wine while I do my shooting (on the beach, in the sunset!), than what the CO2 and pellets cost.😄 My Röhm Twinmaster actually has 8 shot rotary disc magazines for pellets, and will shot both SA/DA. So handling wise, comparable to the Umarex 1911 you have reviewed. Just also slightly better barrel and adjustable sights - though also a finger shaped adjustable match type wood grip, which really sets it apart from most airpistols. (But like your Umarex 1911, trigger pull in DA is just too much, so I only shoot the Röhm Twinmaster in SA.) Thank's for another nice video!
