Smith&Wesson M&P 40 Shield (California Review)

The safety on the Shield is a huge plus for me. It means if the holster is lost, it can still be placed in safe condition without de-chambering. It works one-handed unlike the snap-on trigger covers that pull off with paracord. Holsters under pillows can slide off, unless you have a retention strap or a SERPA that clicks onto the trigger guard. Worst case it can be placed in safe condition with no accessores, holsters or trigger guard snap-on covers, required. That safety is not going to be released accidentally, the lever is very tiny and the click is very firm.

I always laugh at 9mm people who call the 40sw short and weak. 40sw is more powerful than 9mm. I still can't figure this out??

Got mine and am in love. Ordered a spare 7rd mag. The absolute most comfortable bomb proof holster is the blade tech klipt. Not the aiwb klipt. I have both for different guns the regular blade tech klipt is the best thing ever.

I feel Im am more accurate with this gun than some of the 9 MM's I own. Its one of my CCW guns as well very concealable.

Maybe you mentioned it in the video and if so I apologize. What is your favorite target practice ammo (grain and type) for this piece? I need some suggestions. I came across a used one with 3 mags and with the same Streamlight TLR-6 on it. Judging by the slide, trigger pull and overall condition I don't think it was used much. It was too good of a deal IMO to pass up and I have been looking to add a .40 S&W to my collection. I can't wait to pick it up! 😁 Thanks! Great video by the way.

I love how you were about to show the trigger, then you realized that pistol has a magazine disconnect and you knew if you put a loaded magazine in there YT would flip out, also squib load refers to ammunition that is under gun powdered ammo, not loaded with enough propellant.

I just purchased the s&w m&p .40 shield 2.0 gun. But loading the magazine is kinda difficult cause the springs not giving that much play.

The Shield has a SLIDE RELEASE no matter who calls it a “slide stop”. If it were just a slide stop, it would not be exposed with grip serrations for manipulation. True slide/bolt stops are internal only

You can buy the pinky extension for the flush mag. It really helps. How is that recoil/slide spring on yours? I have the 9mm and the slide is difficult to pull back. Very stiff. That’s the one thing I don’t like about mine. If anyone knows what part number it is for a slide spring that’s not as stiff, I would appreciate the info.

My HK45c is easier to rack than my 9mm Shield. Plus the serrations bite my hand during racking.

Great video,I'm in CA too I have the gen 3, Springfield sub compact 9, I will be picking up the S&W shield in 9 mm soon to put in my CCW rotation. Do you have any advice on getting the CCW in California? Laws are changing but not fast enough 😆

Thanks for watching. As for the CCW in California… it depends on what county your in and if that sheriff supports your right to carry. After the Supreme Court ruling last July, you no longer need probable cause on your application. And each county was put on notice to no longer use that. So it should be easier. Once you apply with the Sheriffs office they will notify yo when you can take the 8 hour course. After you complete that course you have to take a qualification course to see if you can operate the gun properly. In my county we can have up to 10 firearms on our CCW, but that may vary with other counties.
