Finally the S&W M&Ps are getting the credit they deserve, especially with improved 2.0 series. I've had one since 2008 and it's been great, NO MALFUNCTIONS, accurate and durable (running fine for 12 years in my experience). And, btw, they're available with thumb safeties which is becoming more popular on striker fired pistols for various reasons, real or perceived.

I have the same thing too in FDE, it’s the midsize model. I have it primarily as my home defense pistol and I absolutely love it! I had the Apex trigger installed in it and it’s 💯 times more enjoyable to shoot than it already was! I run it with a TLR-2 light/red laser, Trijicon night sights and a Springer Precision +2 base pad on one of my 10 round mags. The gun’s so accurate you’d think the rounds are running on rails to the target!! I’ve had it for 9 years and running with zero problems. Very underrated piece for its time, especially as a first generation.

45 isn't a bad option. Lots of expansion (Ranger-T 45 expands to 25mm, Underwood 174 45 expands to 32mm) but you get way less capacity than 9... Everything has it’s pros and cons

Neigher can I fathom how Eric IV8888 took so long to review this pistol. I have one which I bought in 2019 long after the 2.0’s had come out. Its well broken in and despite what you hear from naysayers, its trigger feel is formidable (not great, but dar from as bad as commonly said). Mine even has tritium. I got it for under 300 on GB. Id say it’s my favorite polymer 45. It shoots nicer than the G30s and has better ergos despite it losing by 2 in the capacity department. Gotta love the M&P 45c 1.0👍🏼!

Years ago I was up late one night and was enjoying a cold one before hitting the sack. So like normal having a little down time I was perusing GunBroker and looking at M&Ps. So I see a M&P45 being auctioned with a starting price of $225.00. Thinking its a full size I put in the starting bid thinking I'm going to be out bid. WELL nobody else bid creating an oh crap moment. Then I noticed it was a compact. Double oh crap! Luckily I had a good week with overtime. Well the gun came in to my FFL. First of all it was the size of a Glock 19 which I never thought of as all that compact. Second of all I got to take it to the range and I was really pleasantly surprised in more than one respect. 1. I don't mind recoil but this gun was less snappy than my M&P40 full size and 2. I couldn't believe just how accurate it was because I shot it better than my PPQ45. Go figure. But I did learn something; if its been a long day and you decide to have a cold one stay off of auction sites. Also, M&Ps rarely disappoint.

Got mine for $265 used. Been my "Goes everywhere with me" pistol for years now. Need to get an Apex for it. Have considered having the slide milled for a RMR. Hard 45acp pistol to beat for general purpose. Been running mine in a blade tech holster. Took a deer with it two years back. Only gripe is the factory triggers pull weight.

You can get them with, without, and contact Smith and Wesson for a safety plug. So if you do get one with a safety, you can take it out and replace it with the plug provided by S&W. Don’t think it’s free, but it’s an option.
