When you have section of the barrel without rifling is called counterbore, this is not done for recoil feel or expansion of gases. Counterbore is done so that the bullet does not jump from the end or rifling to rifling again on the other side of a large port on a barrel which. An easily modify the spin and affect accuracy. Counterboring creates an internal crown maintaining the accuracy and not allowing the porting cut to interfere with it

But the M&P was more reliable than SS from my experience (and also pretty flat) at the range about 500 rounds each, 4 of us shot. I wish the M&P trigger reset was more audible and pushed you out a little more. Not one hiccup with M&P and shadow systems was finicky the whole time. Every 50-60 rounds we had an issue, even more so in the first 250-300. That being said, I put reliability as factor number one and would choose the M&P as they shoot very similar.

I'm glad you discussed accuracy with this hand gun. I haven't watched all reviews of it yet. However, all the ones I've found do not discuss the accuracy. I bring this up because I recently bought this gun. On my range day I felt it was not as accurate as the previous non-comp 2.0 metal version. With my non comp, I can stack shots . Point of aim point of impact. I must say I do not recall drifting the sights any. Im pretty sure it was dead on right out of the box for me. I day that because with the comp version, it's hitting left. No problem on that a simple adjustment or possibly just getting used to the new sights. However, my group size has greatly opened up. Again, possibly the new sights, but I dont believe so. I slowed down, took my time, and still not impressed with my shooting. I will try different ammo as you did and get more practice with it. Perhaps things may change. At this time, I prefer my original 2.0 metal. It's not just the groups but the trigger and weight of it fill better too. For now, anyway.

How does the aluminium recoil impulse feel compared to polymer? There is not a large weight difference so I'm curious what the benefit is. I noticed no difference in the standard metal M&P and the polymer in amount of felt recoil but the character of the recoil was a little different.

Great first impressions review. I noticed you said the gun was on par with the Sig P365 AXG Legion and LTT PX4 Compact. You think after you put a red dot on it and a few more rounds through it that it will certainly beat the time and HF on the 25 yard bill drill against those guns? Seems to already run faster/flatter than them? How is your confidence in shooting it and its return to zero compared to those guns? I see the grip texture is aggressive but did you wish they included more texture higher up on the grip (on the sides by the beaver tail) or no it was fine as is? Lastly, have you ever ran the radian ramjet for glock or the new one for the sig macro? If so, you think a ramjet'd glock or sig shoots flatter than this M&P? Thank you sir
@TheGentlemanGunner3 ай бұрын
Some solid questions here! At distance, I personally think it will be close… especially when I put a Red Dot on it. For me and at that distance, when I have an RDS attached to it… I’m shooting reactive to the dot and can make adjustments if I call a bad shot. Its return to zero is quick but with a gentler return… so tracking it will be easier. That said, my confidence would be higher on this gun. As far as grip, for me and how I grip… my support gains more support from the back strap and side in the area for my support hand… it works for me. I did drop this off to David and he pointed that out fairly quickly and I think his persective will better answer that once his video drops. I say that not to build anticipation for his video… but I put pressure on the grip different than he does and it just doesn’t affect me as others might see that. I’ve never ran a Radian Ramjet, so I couldn’t speak to it. Maybe one day I’ll grab one to play around with

I heard a S&W rep at the SHOT show call the 1854 44 mag a “throw back to our heritage”. I’m a 10mm guy since about 1990. Super excited with the S&W M&P 10… bought two. Both jammed regularly, (failure to feed), The magazine fell out the bottom while shooting in both, and on one the supplied plastic optics plate cracked, the screws sheered, and my RMR flew backwards over my head. I sent them back to S&W twice. Failure to feeds continued after receiving them back each time. Called a third time and was transferred to a girl who sounded quite young. She interrupted me, talked over me, and told me that my request that S&W exchange my pistols wasn’t going to happen since the issues were fixable. And she said that I “should shoot better quality ammo”. I guess higher quality than the Federal, Fiocci, Mag Tech, Sig, and Hornady that I had written them about failing, and that I spent a fortune on testing their guns. I filed a BBB complaint but through mediation had no confidence in S&W’s offer to “service my guns”, (for the third time). I wonder if engineering a defective product and then having an arrogant and entitled sounding young lady dismiss your victims is also a throwback to S&W’s heritage; or perhaps rather, they are turning over in their graves.

does it take cz75 mag?
@rodrigoroaduterte9415Ай бұрын
This is not “likes faster ammo”. GBguns has their traditional “what’s for dinner” test. Turns out that every gun has its liked and hated ammo with absolutely no relation to a bullet speed. You just test them all and find one that puts all hits on a dime.

@@rodrigoroaduterte9415 oh interesting, so increased velocity against the rifling doesn’t create a quicker spinning bullet and in turn improve accuracy?

Damn using the same intro music as classic firearms huh?
@TheGentlemanGunner3 ай бұрын
@@benfox383 Unfortunately you’re incorrect… someone else did the research for us… “I Initially thought the same. Then I fact checked: Classic Firearms used this intro first on May 28th, 2023. The Gentleman Gunner has used it since their first video on October 7th, 2021.” Credit and thank you to @mikey899 Also, since this gets mentioned by at least two special people everytime I make a video now… I’m going to leave advice at the end of these. Advice… instead of watching Classic Firearms (and even mine)… you could dry fire or live fire and watch your skills grow! Your welcome 😂

I dont care who came up with it first, if a major gun channel is using my intro song, or vice versa, I would change it immediately. What are you doing?

@@TheGentlemanGunner I guess we're just different then. I value originality and uniqueness. If I made something and it came out the same as someone else's I would feel ashamed and subpar to the point where I would force myself to come up with something original. But thats just me I guess.
@TheGentlemanGunner3 ай бұрын
@@LightofRyga I hear you and for my perspective… my originality and uniqueness is in different areas. But its seems irrational to change a fairly immaterial portion of my content because another channel decided to use the music (that everyone else has access to) I had been using since I started the channel. So my question to you is (and say this because I sincerely want to understand this)… if that’s important to people… then why has no one gone to them and asked the same question? And if uniqueness and originality important… why challenge me and not them?

This gun is a total rip off, in fact any polymer gun turned into the aluminum version is a rip off. The metal frame transfers ALL of the recoil into you, making this a MUCH WORSE shooter than its polymer counter part which is LESS THAN HALF the price of the metal version. S&W is beholden to its shareholders and they've realized all they need to do is manufacture the same guns they've always had, but in aluminum (even though it structurally makes the gun worse), and they can charge absorbent amounts for what costs them almost nothing to manufacture. They fund Anti-2A campaigns for marketing the same way big tobacco funds anti-smoking groups, since it's illegal to advertise in the traditional sense for their actual products. S&W has become a democratic run gun company determined to take your gun rights away, which logically, is exactly what a left leaning gun company would do to itself and its customers.

its a big ol' port. not a compensator. comps have plates/baffles for gasses to work against going forward, and having a giant hole in the end so the barrel can go thru negates it. this, the old glock c models, etc are all ported guns, not compensated. it looks like a decent pistol, albeit expensive for what it is. but it is what it is, not what they call it. end of the day , garbage in, garbage out. quality ammo matters.
@miketbone80073 ай бұрын
You are absolutely wrong…ports are cut into the rifling portion of the barrel as where a comp is not cut into the rifling and in many cases even attached.

Didn't read your reply and still won't but I looked up the specs. The comp is built into the frames port. And again if you're poor just say so
