In the 6 years I've carried the shield, my safety has never been actuated 'by itself' without my placing my thumb in there and switching it. It literally is a non-issue..that being said, I like the option of a safety... Shield is still a great CCW option even in the age of the Sig P365...

@@mitchellfactor6671 Congrats! recommendation: don't get add-ons and extensions and all the aftermarket crap, maybe get a good holster...But If you really think things are going to get hot, then carry the original 7 and 8 round mags and maybe a spare 8 round mag...SAVE YOUR MONEY $$$$ FOR AMMO AND TRAINING...IT'S WHAT I WOULD'VE DONE IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN..

These types of pistols are enough to defend yourself. Lot of people doesn't see it like that therefore they want a bigger gun.. doesn't matter what size it is they all will stop anyone. Also I like these better is it also has indicator that pops up showing there's a round in chamber.

I still have a gen 1. I carry one in the chamber and a 7 round flus. And carry the 8 rounder as a spare. If I need more than that , I am en route to something bigger. But to each their own. My summer carry is the shield, absolutely a brilliant tool. Glock 19 for home and winter. Great vid

Great review. I own one - The 1.0 model. It's good enough for me. You can buy a 10-round mag which is what I did. That makes it more comparable with competitive guns on today's market.

They are a 1.5 (one and a half) stack. This is my understanding. The rounds are not positioned straight up and down. They are also not positioned side by side.

As long as your are training with your firearm you should be fine. I was in the Marine Corps for 12 Years all we did was practice with the safety in mind. Muscle memory. However you are correct if you are not training that safety can screw you over.

Gentlemen, I have been trying to change the mag base plate but I found that the OEM mag doesn’t fit in the new base plate. The oem mag base edge goes inside and the aftermarket base plate is for outsider edge… any suggestions?

I’ve owned 3 shields. I have a p365 too. I still carry the shield a lot even though the sig is more “Gucci” because it just feels more solid. Good choice 👍

I inherited my Shield from my Wife, who didn't like it and switched to a Glock 43. But, I really do like this gun for concealed carry. I upgraded the sights and upgraded the magazines with the Mag guts extensions, for 10-round capacity. I've put all kinds of ammo through it and no problems.There are certainly other newer small pistols I'd love to try, but since my Shield is reliable, and I'd rather spend my spare coin on silver, and other prepping priorities ...

My issue with this gun is the slide release button doesn’t deploy the slide foward unless I press it really hard, I’m which it looses 3.5 seconds after I reload a new mag?? 🤷🏻

I turn my safety off in areas where I know is hot/off . But I get you about the adrenaline and fine motor movements. Bad stuff happens when you dont expect it.

Yeah, when the slide is back the barrel tilts up. It's normal.

The only problem I've ever had with this gun is, if I just carry in my back pocket without a holster, and I sit down the mag releases. If carried properly in a holster as it should be, I've had 0 issues with this gun.

@@markharmon6942 That's your opinion. Just taking the dog for a walk around the block, in a bad neighborhood, Sometimes speed, is more important than having a holster. I've had 2 separate occasions where people tried to rob me and I changed their mind about it very quickly. And for the record I did state if carried properly in a holster, no issues.

You can also leave the thumb safety off and carry it like the pistol without a safety. they both have the trigger safety. Gabby

It's takes a little extra time but one can disengage it relatively quick with practice. Beretta 92fs for example, really easy to disengage.

I have one of these. I've put over 500 rounds through it and I've only had one malfunction. Empty case didn't extract once, easily cleared.

The best part about the sheild is you can pick then up fir super cheap sense the sheild plus came out. I got a sheild for 250 at my local pawn shop. When carrying I prefer to carry my plus though.

The Shield .380 is 8+1. It's what I carry because the 9mm in that small of a package is just too snappy and uncontrollable for me, I have big but skinny hands so most of my pistols are full sized. I wish more manufacturers made their smaller 9s in .380 also.

Love M&P's. I have the Performance Center 2.0 in 9mm with ported barrel. Used maguts to increase my mags. One 8rd mag is 9rds and two 8rd mags are 10rds. Great for summer carry.

Being a CNC machine programmer. Since the 1970s Gun makers have been ripping you off. Machining a part in the 60s would take 10 man hours to complete a CNC with 5 axes machine can do it in one hour or less that's why Taurus sell you a good gun that is very economical and the others won't follow through they just want the profit Why they used 416 Stainless steel it's the easiest to machine high strength and good wear ability

Hey friend, I Love my Shield 9mm too!! You can get a Shield, the Hyve mag extensions and a good Kydex holster for less than a Sig P365. Plus there are a TON of after market parts for the Shield. It’s like the Honda Civic of guns. My only tiny issue is I wish I got it in .40 SW because that is easier to find than 9mm nowadays.

The .40 is basically a 10 mm short so it will punch harder than a 9mm. (All things being equal). However, you will lose one round in capacity. The Shield 40 has a 6+1 and 7+1 capacity. And the 40 will recoil more. Up to you, I wouldn’t want to get shot by either one.👍

Call me crazy but I will not put a striker fired pistol inside my waist band are in my pocket unless it has a safety 1911 pistols and have no problem with carry in the waistband it has a manual safety.

Actually it’s not a “True Double Stack”, I would call it an “Offset”. Each round is slightly offset from the next round

yes i wondered about that myself, i dont think the round are going to chamber themselves without some help. i always clean guns about 6 inches away, from the loaded magazine. have not shot myself yet, as long no rounds are in chamber. lol

Moving the ammunition away from the immediate vicinity when working on a firearm or just handling it is meant to reinforce safe handling. Of course it won’t load itself but on the off chance that you might be working on it and grab a mag to insert in the magazine, not having the ammo or loaded mags close at hand might save you from putting a hole in yourself or your floor or ceiling inadvertently.
