Sharing some info and some of my thoughts on the Smith and Wesson Model 15 Revolver. This .38 Special K Frame is an icon among American firearms of the 20th century. Accurate, Reliable, and Tough. A pleasure to shoot!

As a S&W collector, I must say you did an outstanding job going through the model 15 history. Keep that original finish. I have the 15 in 4" and 2" Thanks for the video.

The S&W Model 15 was the issued sidearm for the Minuteman ICBM crew members. Had to qualify annually with the weapon during my four years as a missile crew member in North Dakota.

I was lucky enough to pick up a 15-3 made in 1973 at an estate sale last week. The revolver has been in a safe since purchased new and was never fired. I did have to pay $450.00 for it but I considered that a steal. Shot it for the first time this week and after setting in a safe for 47 years, it worked great. It will be my range revolver and safe queen to pass down to my grandkids.

It's amazing the beauty of the magnificent S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece, compared to the plastic Glock, or any plastic striker for that matter. Bubba, don't you dare touch the original finish, as it has that worn great character look! You hear me Fudd!

Carried one everyday for 8 years in the Air Force and also used it on the rifle/pistol team. Needless to say it was a very nice revolver with the S&W trigger. I didn't appreciate it as much then as I do now---we carried FMC +P ammo, but still it was "only" a .38 Special. I heard they are only used for K-9 blank training now---something I didn't like to do because it meant then I'd have to clean it. But even those are being retired.

I’ve owned my S&W model 15-4 2 inch close to twenty years, the action is as smooth as glass. It just loves the Remington 158 Gr LSWC-HP +P’s, it was made back in 1970 and has a pinned in barrel . It’s not a EDC because it’s a square butt but man it a wonderful peace of S&W history.

I just picked up a model 67/no dash, just beautiful. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I was raised thru the 60's and 70's, watching closely the duty weapons of choice! I always pined for a .38 spcl. snubnose because of TV. But I couldn't pass on a 4 inch. Someday I may get blessed with a 2 inch, but if not, oh well! I have a SS S&W, duty pistol, and that's all that matters!!! Thanks for the thread and video! I know I'm late?

Scored a first year 15-3. Judging by the wear it spent years riding on a LE hip. Did some cleaning on it. Former owner was a smoker and it was covered in a film of nicotine. The blue cleaned up very nice. I'd guess it had a trigger job when fairly new. Years of range time have turned its action into buttery goodness. First trip to the range I discovered it has the ability to put multiple rounds thru the same hole if you do your part. A nicely broke in M15 is an absolute must have.

1. carried during my 3 years in SouthEast Asia, with those Winchester 130 fmj's. 2. You can contact SANDW to obtain the history of that serial numbered revolver. 3. These revolvers are meant for leather, not some silly plastic!! You can find the holster rig that WW2 pilots wore their Victory revolvers too. 4. 160gr DEWC's work very well, on the range, and elsewhere, standard pressure.

You can send it back to Smith and Wesson. They will blue it again and it may not even cost you anything with their life time warranty. You don't have to be the original owner to be covered by it.

"A revolver with a 4-inch barrel makes a great all around handgun if your'e combining *urban and rural travel. Too big you say? If my hunting trip requires travel through town and maybe a stop in a restaurant, I'd rather have that handgun under my jacket, than locked inside my vehicle. As I won't be bringing more than one handgun on such occasions, I'll often choose a 4-inch revolver." Source: Concealed Carry Handguns: Buyer's Guide 2020. Also in this same magazine issue, which is destined to expire in February 11th, 2020, is this article: "Old School Reliable. Revolvers are still a good choice for personal defense and here's why." by Steven Paul Barlow. Okay let me add my two cents worth on the Smith and Wesson K-Frame .38 Special/.357 Magnum revolvers from the past: Models 10 Military and Police, Model 15 .38 Special Combat Masterpiece, and Model 19 .357 Combat Magnum, and their stainless steel versions: Model 64, 67, and 66, respectively. Yes...for *urban and rural travel, including too for metro/urban vs. wilderness/rural, these older .38's and .357's remain highly practical sidearm. But not just for "self-defense/house protection/concealed carry", but likewise for the outdoors man: camping, fishing, hunting: as a companion to a rifle during deer/elk season. Next to a .22 or .32 the .38 Special, especially when loaded with 148 grain lead target wad-cutters, remains practical for dispatching vermin such as skunk, possum, skunk, etc. Also, for hunting small game: rabbit, squirrel, and grouse. Even for butchering livestock such as cattle, with a head shot. CCI's classic .38 Special shot or "snake load": No. 9 bird-shot can shred the head of a rattlesnake up close. My point: A person armed with a good .38 caliber revolver remains well armed in the 21st century. This despite the popularity of Glock semi-automatic pistols, Colt AR-15's, and other so called "tactical firearms." No there is nothing whatsoever wrong with the latter. Yet with a double-action police type service revolver with swing out cylinder its still "six shots for sure!" Remember: .357 Magnum revolvers will chamber and fire .38 Special ammo, but not the reverse. The S&W Model 15 in this video still retains the pre-1982 pinned barrel. The Pachmayr or Uncle Mikes Combat Grips (both hard rubber) certainly enhance practical shooting comfort and practical accuracy vs. the original skimp S&W factory Magna grips. Good shooting. James A. Not in the US, sport hunting is VERY and regulated where I live, other than that all those points would resonate to a gun owner, in my setting living in an area with a urban and rural areas in close proximity. Just sharing...the gun owners in my area, well most of the country usually pack competition/stock pistols in 1911/2011 pattern and Glocks as their weapon of choice. Finding a revolver guy is hard.
