I dont know too much about antique guns, but i can confidently say this was artificially aged. Worked as a sand blaster at a powdercoater for 3 years. Seen lots of steel at various ages and stages of corrosion. - The brightness of the rust indicates it was formed quickly and recently. A naturally aged item would have a deeper color, that wouldn't have been a superficial layer. -the rust would have been more consistent. At the beginning we can see quite a few spots that are still reflective, and durimg disassembly we could see that internal parts werent evenly corroded. -the wooden scales would have disintegrated if the steel reached that state naturally. The rapid rusting is why the wood survived. -naturally corroded screws fuse dont come out clean. I suspect hes soaking these things in an acid solution, or using electrolysis to corrode them, before burying them in some mud for a few days.

Explain the barrel being deeply pitted by rust. Pits that deep don’t occur overnight. Think about it.

I had to work on very old carburetors a very long time ago. Many of the parts I would have to try and manufacture them myself because they were no longer available, even in China or Japan. Now they were 10X their original price but whatever engine you wanted to use it for often demanded the replacement. Luckily the demand was greater than the production so I would never be short for work. I would eventually get help. But my biggest more effective investment that cost nearly nothing was a strike vibrator that you would stick in the fluid that would send a frequency that would allow the diluted lubrication oil to get into anything. 2 hours in the bath breaking the carbs down was a snap. No more stripping screws. It would simply fall apart. Then I would sandblast them with superfine particulate, and I would use lacquer spray paint to cover. They would look like new stock carbs.

This is not a Smith & Wesson. It is a non-authorized copy of a Colt Officer's Model, probably made in the Spanish province of Eibar.

Impossible, after all the welding. Welding locally affects heat treatment and the differences between the original material and the welded material cause internal tensions, which make the material less tough. It'd be OK on the frame perhaps, but I wouldn't dare shoot a revolver with barrel and most importantly the cylinder having been welded---the cambers will be weakened. I quite like my fingers... ;-)
