I just picked up a new carry gun, the Smith & Wesson Shield Plus Carry Comp Performance Center. It has a really long name... but it's also a REALLY good carry gun. For a "subcompact" pistol, it shoots really well. The built-in compensator reduces muzzle rise and felt recoil significantly. So far, reliability has been perfect, both with full metal jacket range ammo and with my preferred defensive round, Federal 124 grain HST, but I did have one kind of major issue. Funny how things come around full-circle. I started carrying a stock P365 years ago and slowly turned it into a P365XL Comp with a light and an optic and lately, I've been carrying this Shield Plus with a 4" barrel, but these guns are nice to carry because they're really thin and light weight, even if they're not so small in the other dimensions anymore.

I put a Vortex Defender CCW on my Shield Carry Comp and zeroed at 10 yards no issues after 400rds. I was going to put the EPS Carry on it as i have it on my Macro though glad i tried the Vortex!

27:30 This is why I chose an M&P2.0 compact 4" for my first gun. Its the perfect do-it-all size imo. (Its a full size frame 2.0, but has 1/4" shorter slide/barrel & shorter 15rd mag/grip). So it shoots like a full size, and I can get a confident grip.. While still being concealable & holding 15+1. And you can recreate the full size grip, with the slide-on grip extensions (for the nightstand or OWB carry).👍

I think the M&P2.0 Compact is a great size for a "do-it-all" pistol. It's the same size as a Glock 19, but with better features and ergonomics, in my opinion. I've got a full-size M&P2.0 with the 4.25" barrel and 17 round standard capacity and I love that gun, but this Carry Comp is just that much easier to carry and conceal, being thin and lightweight and it shoots like a bigger pistol because of the comp.

Hey there, Sawtooth, new subscriber here and fellow owner of the same S&W Mouthful 2.0! HAHA Just a quick note on the compensator. Those "side windows," as you referred to them, are so much more than that, and ine of the reasons I absolutely love the compensator on the S&W Mouthful. Lol Those "windows" are to help force the gasses off to the side and out of the way of your sight picture, allowing quicker target acquisition as well as mitigating the potential foulling your front sight. It really is an excellent, well thought out design, imo. Cheers, and enjoy, my friend!

Recover Tactical has a sexy rail adapter (SHR9) for the shield that works fine on the shield comp carry. I added to my new shield and works as long as the TLR-Key is purchased.

Awesome carry gun...best in the industry. I couldn't zero my EPS Carry on this Shield plus carry comp. Ran out of adjustments. I put a 507k acss on it instead. No issues, zeroed perfectly. Also had a CT 1500 that came with my other Shield plus PC. No issues there. Just the larger eps carry wouldnt zero

@@sawtoothtactical404 My issue was slightly different.My windage was off right to left. Its strange though because i have an EPS carry on my other Shield plus PC with no issues. Perfect zero at 15yds. But on the Shield Plus carry comp it was off a few inches to the right. Up in down no issues. I sent the EPS carry back to Holosun. When i received it i put it on my M&P metal and it zeroed perfect. I think the issue is with the Carry comp and larger optics. I also saw another video with a guy having the same issue with the EPS carry on this shield carry comp

@@Sleet870 I used C&H precision first with EPS Carry. That didn't work. Now I have a Titanium DP plate with a 507k. That worked perfect. I'm sure the C&H precision plate would be fine with the 507k as well.The issue is the eps carry

I totally agree. My 4.25" M&P 2.0 came with the old mushy trigger and changing it out for the APEX trigger made all the difference in the world!

Just picked up my Shield plus carry comp today and checking it out. My 507k acss vulcan should be here tomorrow. And I'm going to the range Saturday morning. First shooting a good bit with the iron sights and then I'll try it out with the 507k vulcan. Can't wait! I hope I don't have any issues zero'ing like you did! XD

Get a DPP plate for it, the cut is apparently angled for crimson trace optics but the DPP plate fixed it up for me. Other option is get it milled.

@@rushthezeppelin I got my plate from Freedom Gorilla fits perfectly. Taking it back to shoot 200+ rnds this weekend. The 507k vulcan was zero'd perfectly at 25yds for me. I'm going to zero at 15yds next so we'll see how that goes.

Folded aluminum foil in rear of plate. Just a hair lift, non-corrosive. I've done this trick allready.

ADE makes a 1 degree Delrin shim. You use it backwards and trim a tiny bit off the back side and you are gtg, I sent mine back to Smith and they said that was the way it was suppose to be. Also 40 feet is a great range to zero at. I played with zero's and have figure out that up close you won't use the sights and 10 feet out it is a tiny low. @40 dead on which means you won't be shooting high anywhere in that range and the curve up past 40 feet is very minimal. You will not be able to zero that optic correctly without the ADE shim. I tried both. I am now running the MRS enclosed Holosun on mine. I find though that it is not at clear of a dot with 2 pieces of glass. Give and take. PS that 10 round can be upgraded to 13 rounds with the mag guts kit. Thoughts?

Just shot: Sig P365X, S&W Shield Plus, & Springfield Hellcat at my local gun range vs. my Glock 43. I will be replacing my G43 with this S&W Shield Plus comp. The Sig shot ok but not as good as the S&W, the Hellcat was worse recoil wise than my G43.

I have this pistol and think it's great. Will also be my carry when deemed reliable. Shoots well at distance for me and is less snappy than my 3.1 Shield. My only issue was grip, I seem to develope moisture in my hands after shooting a while. Could have been from all the ammo loading. I added some Edge Series Handleitgrips and now it's perfect and even looks better in my opinion. I also added the extension on my 10 round mag and its perfect. I'm glad you brought the red dot issue up as that's my next purchase and will continue to research on that issue, so thank you. Great review, keep it coming.

A little tip, trust me I've already done it and got numerous others to successfully try using the hlx rechargeable 3.6v sl-b9 battery to work in your tlr7 sub, it ups the lumens and candela and doesn't hurt the light at all, I hate to suspect streamlight just rebranded the tlr7 series calling it the x series with only a new rechargeable battery but that appears to be the case, ultimately whichever, it runs fine and guys can't tell which light you're running with just a blind test

i live in california and the shield plus was added to the demonic hand gun roster a few months ago, but the performance center shield 4 inch wasn't added along with it... count your blessings that you live in a free state also, if you know any shop that sells the shield plus performance center slide individually please let me know!

I bet you could order the slide and barrel from Smith & Wesson. The frame is the same as the regular Shield Plus. The post office lost the slide to me M&P 2.0 full-size when I sent it off to get cut for an optic and I had to buy a new slide for that gun, so I'm sure you can get the slide for the Shield Plus, as well.

i was reading somewhere that the optic cut out is not square to the slide. one side is 30 thou higher. Might explain why youre having issues zeroing.

Got the same set up…only added a Pearce grip ext to the 10 round mag to give my pinky something to hold onto and a TLR-6 with the 300 lumens. I run a T-Rex Arms side car that fits the TLR-6 I was wondering why it was so hard to zero my Holosun…thanks for the info

I had the same issue with my Shield plus and a Holosun EPS carry. I sent the optic back to Holosun and got a new one and it did the same. there is a company that will recut the slide to work as it off about 2 degrees.. My Vortex CCW works just fine though btw. For some reason the Holosuns can have issues with the Shield plus cut.

There is a company that does a slight remill modification to make them work so apparently there was more than a few slides that would not work. Funny how other optics like Crimson trace- Vortex and such all work just fine.

I do have 7 Hellcat Pro's which two are the new Comps. I feel on a 9mm Comps improvement is about 10% barely noticed.. I have 2 P365 XL's but wouldn't ever by a Macro P365 .

TLR6 HL won't fit on the carry comp? It works well on my original Shield plus, and it's 300 lumens, which is at least usable.

If it fits on the original Shield Plus, I'm sure it'll fit on the Carry Comp, as well. I think they both have the same grip frame. Have you had a hard time finding holsters that will accommodate that combination, or not?

I impulse bought a We The People holster the day I got the gun so that I'd have something to carry it in, because they had the Carry Comp listed on their sight, but I'm thinking T-Rex Arms for Appendix carry. I love Tier1 Concealed and I have a couple of their holsters, but I think I wan't something without the sidecar mag carrier this time.

I've always heard that the ported 4" shoots really good for a carry gun, but so does the new Carry Comp. I'll see if I can get ahold of the ported version to do a comparison.

It's hard to say, just yet. I have the P365XL with the Macro Comp slide and I think this gun shoots a little nicer than that one, but not by much. I haven't shot the Hellcat Pro Comp, but I have shot the regular Hellcat Pro and it felt VERY snappy, although I'm sure the comp takes some of that out of it. I have a friend who is going to loan me his Hellcat Pro Comp for a video soon, so I'll be able to compare all three.

Does the 407/507k allow cowitness with the irons on the Shield Plus? I have a cheap CTS-1550 that's done fine on my so far, but do have a Holosun 407k on my Canik Mete SFT Pro I'm thinking of replacing with a 507c for a bigger window and moving the 407k to the Shield Plus.

I carried it at work all day today. It has a 4" barrel and the grip is close to the same length as a Glock 19 with the 13 or 15 rounds magazine in it, but it's nice and thin and really light, so it carries well.

Yeah. I've heard that from a few people, but then recently, I did a review of the Cyelee Cat0 red dot and it mounted right to the slide and zeroed without any problem. It's definitely cut for RMSc, not Holosun K footprint, even though they are VERY similar.

Call S&W , your optic should zero, being as you tried 2 optics and found the same problem , id say the gun most likely is milled incorrectly unfortunately .

I'm just watching your video! I must say The Holoson k and the Rmsc footprints ARE NOT the same footprint! I have the eps carry on my 43x with the same problem at first. after 5 minutes of research you will see that the 2 posts are a few thousands of a inch off between the rmsc and the holoson K foot prints! File the posts down a few thousands of a inch and you will be correct. The footprints Are NOT the same. Rmsc and K are very slightly diffrent !! Blame holoson!

That is true, which is why they have a Rmsc to K adapter plate. They should've gone with the Holosun K footprint. Those are the optics everyone is using.

The EPS Carry issue is because the cut is angled for crimson trace optics. I got a DPP plate and mine zeros great now.
