I used to be a longline tuna fisherman in Venezuela. We only fished for the very finest fresh sushi market. The fish was never frozen, flown to Miami or New York in individual polystyrene coffins packed in ice. However, in the next port, was a company that would buy the 2nd league fish, freeze it and ship them to Japan. The company? Mitsubishi.

Airbags were basically found to not actually expire at all, hence the expiry dates are gone off newer ones

Yes, the CBX was a six, but you need to look at the work of one Mr Alan Millyard. Perhaps Robbie borrowed Milly's V12 Kawasaki?

Free car: My boss's brother, a wealthy Jaguar collector, once offered me an XJS V12 for free. He'd bought it brand new in the 80s for his wife - champagne gold with red leather. It was always stored in a heated garage with his other Jags and had around 40k miles on the clock. Excellent condition, wanted for nowt. A fine example of the marque. I had to pass it up in the end as I had just bought my first house (with no garage) and was forced to spend my garage-building money on other housey things. He gave it to his mechanic instead.

There's some evidence to suggest that Robbie Williams might be a bit of a helmet, he was apparently fond of introducing 'She's the One' as "my favourite song I've ever written", to the consternation of the song's actual writer, Karl Wallinger of World Party. Listen to the original. It sounds like a lost Beatles song - absolutely beautiful.

Never knew about the airbags 10 year date. Surely no one with a car 10 years or older has ever got them checked

Perhaps Robbie is a keen gardener and was talking about a ride-on 12cc lawnmower and confused 12 cylinders with cc

I (occasionally) drive around in my 28 year old 850R with not one, not two but four very elderly airbags. There's a sticker in the veeheehicle stating that the inspection/replacement should've occurred sometime in 2005. I'm fairly certain that this didn't happen. Bothered? Nah, not really, don't plan on shunting it and I reckon they'll still be alright anyway...

I passed my test a day after the change over period so need a license for all the interesting stuff as I ran out of cash for driving lessons.

When I was starting to drive in around 2010 I was offered an Austin Princess for free off a distant relative who was quitting driving and a friend of my dads at work offered me a TVR Tasmin with the 2.8 V6 for just a couple of thousand, sadly, the Austin needed a fair bit of work and the TVR I couldn't insure.

Ok two things to mention. First, Richard what's the latest on your Kei car lust? Second, re: cars that got away. For me it was a red 205 XS circa 2007. I phoned and said I'd come to look at it on the weekend. It sold in the ensuing days before I got to it. Lesson learnt - if it might be a goer, get to the car as soon as you can and always phone rather than email. Cheers

Cars that got away? Moved to a new place with a huge lip on my garage drive that was scraping the underside of my picanto and polo, so decided I'd get an suv for the ground clearance. Always liked the 2005-2010ish Lexus RX330 after riding in one and a dealer had a silver over black one in budget but sold the morning was going to look. Ended up in a CX-5 which I'm happy with but ironically I never use the garage as its full of house move shit

Back in 2005 a mate had an omega V6 ex police car , had loads of bits like an LSD and we were in the pub it had a water leak but he thought it was the head gasket I don't think it was anyway he offered it to me for 50 quid I was thinking track car at Castle combe but didn't have a place to keep it except the street , also offered an xr2i for 100 quid delivered didn't really entertain forrrds at the time though so no sale then I weakened but he had sold to a girl who crashed her saxo .
