I cried so much and I don't cry when I watch movies. But watching this movie wasn't a story watching. I understood that this is what so many kids go through and I couldn't stop crying. It's the best movie I've watched until now. The crew did an amazing job and Zain is going to be one of the best actors, I'm very sure. I hope now he will live a happy and good life, like many kids who had to go through so many difficulties.

I saw this film this afternoon and it has had a profound affect on me. It was like watching a documentary through a brilliant film that has opened up my eyes to millions of displaced people in the world who are exploited (especially children) by those who see suffering as a way of profiteering. We too in the West are just as guilty by our greed and indifference.

This movie is extremely well made. Only one or two small things are really too simplistic - the way the characters of Zain's parents are portrayed as two heartless, soulless human beings - which has a populationist undertone - probably to satisfy the westerners. And the role of Western neo-colonialism and imperialism behind the refugee crisis and war is not even mentioned - no doubt people in West Europe and USA really liked the film. They did not need to feel any guilt. It is all middle-east, conservative, patriarchal societies problem - internal and structural. But I must say technically, visually, performance-wise, it is one of the finest films I have ever seen.

My swamp is near the Patro an amusement and gathering area for families , near the banks of The Ottawa River in the vicinity of the Capital city of Canada . What s more intersting about the film besides highliting some of most important issues in today s world is that it had made a change’in the life of these actors plus the humanitarian mission they re working on . Indeed the director toghether with the producer and the rest of the staff showed us the real role of cinema.thanks a lot for making us live this experience.

Do they discuss antinatalist philosophy in this?
@jessie80815 жыл бұрын
The film is not pure antinatalism. It places a condition on procreation and that condition is: people should not bring children to this world who they cannot take care of due to poverty. But Nadine Labaki herself has kids. I think she would argue that it is Ok to have kids if you take care of them properly. So it is not a purely intrinsic anti natalist movie in that sense. Its more of "if you cant take care of kids dont have them, but if you can then you can have them." This is of course not what Antinatalism is about. Antinatalism states you should not have children period. But it does have a powerful message for the third world nations to stop reproducing. I really enjoyed the film especially the end where Zain the boy says his life is a hell and his heart aches that his mother is having another child. He asks what will I rememeber from this horrid life that I lead? Its riveting and touching!
@mrclarky5 жыл бұрын
The ending of the film is quite powerful, the shot of the Zein smiling while posing for his ID photo. It's the first time we see him smile, giving value to his existence and identity. It could be understood as, even though his life was so harsh and his existence so terrible - his life still has value, his identity still important. Every life matters regardless of the life they live.
