@Bio Kimistry I don't see preview written anywhere. Regarless I'm asking for longer "previews" if that's the case.

Was this supposed to explain why it costs 700 million?
@mendonesiac6 жыл бұрын
What was it? 56 rooms, 61 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms, a private zoo... and in the middle of nowhere to boot. I agree they could have gone into more depth, but this video definitely gives us an idea of why it cost so much.

To think you could make this kind of money off of newspapers! How times have changed.

it was the mass media of the time, which was as dishonest & corrupt as it is today. Hearst continued the Spanish American war for a full 3 years after it was over, keeping the masses preoccupied while the government shoved socialist programs down our throats, much like the 2009-10 Congress & bastard President did, 'You have to pass it to read it" because it wasn't fully written yet, & the MSM played right along with it. Thank God for our Great President Trump!

You didn't really answer the question "why" it cost that much: You just stated that it did cost that much.

Toured in 1969. One "cottage" was built to the scale of his daughter. The scale was built to her changing scale as she grew. One "cottage' had Ferrari and Lamborghini type cars as the "family" was there for the weekend. The Guide said the family donated the Castle in return for a tax break on the rest of the property and retained the rights to one of the "cottages." This was before Patty rejected her white privilege - became a terrorist and had the influence of her family get her a slap on the wrist. A Beautiful example of Capitalistic excess in a time of the Grapes of Wrath.

If you want to know how miserable this guy was, just watch Citizen Kane. Hearst tried to have the movie banned.

So why did it cost $700 million?
@kylesanders9536 жыл бұрын
They didnt state it specifically, but they def give details as to why it cost so much. 57 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms, 110 acres of gardens, private zoo. They don't even mention 2 olympic size pools with detail work plated in gold, the hundreds of pieces of art that litter the estate, or 11th century church pews that mr. hearst had imported from italy for dinning hall seats. All on 250000 acres of property. Its truly a magnificent sight, and opulent sight

@@kylesanders953 Plus the architecture, itself, was semi-revolutionary and tedious to complete -- the concrete was all hand-poured in thin layers, with specific care and attention having to be paid to the terrain. That upped the cost by quite a bit. It paid off, though, as the Castle has survived a few pretty bad earthquakes unscathed, including the 6.6 San Simeon Quake in 2003.

Smithsonian name is rather tarnished on KZbin with click bait titles and misleading as the rather don’t blink or you will miss the video never bothers to answer the question it asks. So much more could be told and yet nothing is told to us. Could it be the current administration.... nah never mind

Meanwhile in Africa, we are busy growing our economies, Africa has 6 of the 10 fastest growing economies on earth, and we definitely have the fastest growing population, in 10 years Africa will have a bigger and younger population than India, China and Europe combined. Thankfully 70% of all the uncultivated arable land in the word is in Africa, so food security is not an issue. My own country Rwanda has been growing at 8% for the last 10 years, Tripling our Per Capita GDP and doubling our Agricultural output in that same time. You should come to Rwanda, it's a very beautiful country. Don't listen to what the Western Media says about African countries @JonathanLindroos, Africa as a continent is doing pretty well.
