Great tour, Jordan. I think you should have mentioned the woman that made it all possible, Julia Morgan, Hearst's architect. She was one of the most accomplished architects of the era and designed several buildings for Hearst including the Casa Grande. She was somewhat of a mysterious figure who never drew attention to herself but mastered her craft like few had done before her.

My parents took me here when I was just a teenager and had not one ounce of understanding behind the man, the culture, the art, the decoration, and everything. Even still, it blew my 13 year old mind when I saw this place in person. I was just awe inspired. It led me down a path of architecture and design and 22 years later, it is my career! Thank you Hearst Castle for being such a core memory of my childhood.

Wow! That was incredible. Those so-called plain sides of the castle sure looked ornate for being unfinished. The guy paid attention to every minute detail. The foliage alone around the walk-ways-- crazy! It is hard to even get the idea of just how huge the place is. This was quite the treat. Thanks so much. Trips back will certainly be just as enjoyable. The great thing is that it is now open for the public to enjoy. Everywhere you looked-- there was an antiquity of some sort

I'm so glad you did Hearst Castle. This place is one of California's hidden gems. If you're not from here you would never know it exists and if you are from here you still might not know it exists. I have been on all the tours and rumors have it that during Halloween there are other tours of rooms that aren't opened up the rest of the year. I just love this place. Oh, you also have to have a proper Hearst Burger while you're up there if you don't you're just missing out on a part of the whole experience. P.S. Yes, the paved areas and steps seem to overwhelm the landscape. The paths with trees and shrubs bordering them look much more inviting. The statuary is diverse, its fine as long as there is enough planting to soften it all and provide background.

😇💙 Hi Jordan, Thank YOU for the tour of Hurst Castle.🤗 I was either 17 or 18 years old, and my Mom and my two siblings, went to Hurst Castle, in the late seventies, but I didn't go, because I was a little mad at my Mom, so I turned down the visit, to Hurst Castle { if I'm being honest, I was a little bratty about it 🤭 } but years later, after I had my two children, my Hubby 😎 and I took a few trips, up to northern CA, and each time we drove the Pacific Coast, driving right by the castle. Years later, my Hubby 😎 and I, stopped by the castle { at the very bottom } and admired the castle, from afar. 🤗 You didn't mention Patty Hurst ??? But you did mention, five children { all boys } Thank YOU again.🤗 LUV Joy.🤗
