Great tour, Jordan. I think you should have mentioned the woman that made it all possible, Julia Morgan, Hearst's architect. She was one of the most accomplished architects of the era and designed several buildings for Hearst including the Casa Grande. She was somewhat of a mysterious figure who never drew attention to herself but mastered her craft like few had done before her.

I have a friend that lives in a Morgan designed home, she can be a bit snippy about it at times.

My parents took me here when I was just a teenager and had not one ounce of understanding behind the man, the culture, the art, the decoration, and everything. Even still, it blew my 13 year old mind when I saw this place in person. I was just awe inspired. It led me down a path of architecture and design and 22 years later, it is my career! Thank you Hearst Castle for being such a core memory of my childhood.

+Michelle C it's all funded by the visitors. He said California gives them very little, so the visitors admission of $25 per tour is what keeps it open and keeps it maintained.. one of my favorite places to visit. I definitely think everyone should see it

Been to Hearst Castle twice, in the 80's, and loved every minute! The blue swimming pool, under the tennis courts, with cobalt blue tiles and real gold were my favorite! Swimming in that pool would be on my bucket list if it were possible. 😄👏👌🏊‍♀️

Wow! That was incredible. Those so-called plain sides of the castle sure looked ornate for being unfinished. The guy paid attention to every minute detail. The foliage alone around the walk-ways-- crazy! It is hard to even get the idea of just how huge the place is. This was quite the treat. Thanks so much. Trips back will certainly be just as enjoyable. The great thing is that it is now open for the public to enjoy. Everywhere you looked-- there was an antiquity of some sort

I'm so glad you did Hearst Castle. This place is one of California's hidden gems. If you're not from here you would never know it exists and if you are from here you still might not know it exists. I have been on all the tours and rumors have it that during Halloween there are other tours of rooms that aren't opened up the rest of the year. I just love this place. Oh, you also have to have a proper Hearst Burger while you're up there if you don't you're just missing out on a part of the whole experience. P.S. One never turns down an invitation from a Hearst even to this day.

I want to hear what the guide is saying...I want to see everything I can and you are good at using your camera to pan left and right and show us everything. The tour guide was amazing, and bedazzled. :) I've been here many times and I always love it just the same. So much history. So much beauty. My favorite parts are the indoor pool, his office, the gold chicken faucets in the kitchen, and the gorgeous roses and hydrangeas. The steps, not so much.

Yes, the paved areas and steps seem to overwhelm the landscape. The paths with trees and shrubs bordering them look much more inviting. The statuary is diverse, its fine as long as there is enough planting to soften it all and provide background.

Jordan, I just found your Vlog in searching for Videos of the Hearst Castle. I went there years ago, but we got there too late and the tours were over, so I never got to see anything further than the Gift Shop. I was *so* disappointed! Thank you for making such a great video, and not talking through the video (like some people have) until the end with information we'd love to know, and making it feel like we were there on the Tour ourselves. 💕 I'm becoming a subscriber, am looking forward to your other videos, and am now off to part #2 of your Hearst Castle series! I have read about Hearst Castle for years and watched documentaries over and over again on the subject. Can you imagine hanging out with all the biggest stars and VIP's of the day and then be seated at that loooong table for the mandatory dinner? This makes me want to watch Citizen Kane again. 😇💙 Hi Jordan, Thank YOU for the tour of Hurst Castle.🤗 I was either 17 or 18 years old, and my Mom and my two siblings, went to Hurst Castle, in the late seventies, but I didn't go, because I was a little mad at my Mom, so I turned down the visit, to Hurst Castle { if I'm being honest, I was a little bratty about it 🤭 } but years later, after I had my two children, my Hubby 😎 and I took a few trips, up to northern CA, and each time we drove the Pacific Coast, driving right by the castle. Years later, my Hubby 😎 and I, stopped by the castle { at the very bottom } and admired the castle, from afar. 🤗 You didn't mention Patty Hurst ??? But you did mention, five children { all boys } Thank YOU again.🤗 LUV Joy.🤗

Fabulous place to visit in it's heyday. Pool's were so beautiful n blue.

I wouldn't normally say this but holy @#$% !! That was stunning! It would seem to be 100% impossible to be able to see everything that place has to offer, absolutely breathtaking and yes that view is just .. Wow!
