I'm your neighbor to the east in Timberon. I've enjoyed your videos. The views of the organ mountains are special. Like you I had never seen a trike in my life but I watched a lot of videos and got a pretty good Idea about how they opperated. I studied video after technical videos that I could find. With the knowlage I gained from hours on youtube I made a big purchase. I found a Fat Tad Dumont with a Rohloff hub and a 750 w Bafang and 2 batteries at Utah Trike. It works well in dirt if it's not too steep and rocky up hill. It works really well on paved roads. If you are going to the City Of Rocks Be sure and check out HWY 152 from Hills Boro to Santa Rita. It has so many curves and cattleguards that it slows the cars way down and it's justresurfaced. There no sholders to speak of. The sites are incredible. The road to the Gila Clif Dwellings should be good too. I've only ridden that road on motorcycles, so I can't say what the trike ride would be like. High speed and siteseeing don't mix. Keep up the videos, Ben

Ben, thanks for the review of the Dumont ! I’m headed to the City of Rocks this morning for an afternoon ride. If you’re close to me, we should find a ride to tour together. Thanks Smitty

Looking forward to Part 2! Pretty much, I just ride flat, multiuse trails for now, so e-assist is something for my future. But when I upgrade, I think I will have something like your system. I am too picky about my accessories to buy a fully equipped trike. I have been using a rearview mirror that attaches to my sunglasses for many years. I turn my head to view as necessary. I don't like the mirrors that stick out. They are in the way for transporting, etc. Also, no fenders for the same reason (I am a dry weather rider). Like you, I have a canopy, but it has an alum frame. The downside is that you need to be a contortionist to get in and out lol. But the upside is that I have a polarized visor that slips over the frame (made to slip on to a car visor), and it can be moved and swivels as required, and folds flat out of the way when not in use. The sky here is gray most of the time, but I use the canopy anyway due to glare. Even with sunglasses 😎 because glare also comes from above. (The canopy is also easily noticed, for safety.)

Hi , thanks for the comments. I also like no fenders, but in New Mexico, one minute it is clear, and next, a fast-moving rain will move in. I can't use the helmet mirror set up because of vision issues. I wish I could , maybe after I get my cataracts removed. What brand of top do you have? I built my top and I love it. I'm working on part 2 now for uploading to KZbin. Thanks Smitty

@@robertsmith2419 You built your own top!?! Nice job! Looks professional. My trike and top are made by Trident Trikes. In fact, lately I've been having trouble with my mirror due to a problem that recently developed in my left eye. I will need surgery also. Dang, I hate getting old! 🤷️lol But I don't like the alternative either ...

Hi, yep, getting old does have its drawbacks, but it also has its perks. I really enjoy retirement after all them years I worked. I did build my top. link below. I like building/ making things. Thanks, Smitty kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3mYm3igfbJ0bposi=ln48QCTOYOW1imZ4
